Why Rip Us Off At A Time Like This Mr. Brown. Oil Has Halved In Price..
In may this year I spent some time in the USA and laughed at the people groaning that petrol was nearly $4. per GALLON. I soon made them feel better when I told them what we were paying since the rise in the price of crude oil. NOW THAT THE PRICE OF CRUDE HAS HALVED, WHY HAS THE COST DROPPED BY JUST A FEW PENNIES. The oil companies are anouncing record profits and is their any wonder.
Get this though I am in the USA now and the cost of fuel has halved overnight to $1.91. pere gallon. We are told the best way out of a recession is to get people spending not to make it impossible to live a normal life, as the cost of fuel is doing for a lot of people, The car industry is laying off workers they cant sell new cars and the cost of road haulage is now a joke. Come on GORDON BROWN and your LITTLE DARLING> CUT THE COST OF FUEL TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO LIVE AND USE THEIR CARS. Let the haulage people get on with the excellent work they do. AND lets get the country moving again. We are sick of being RIPPED OFF> |

The price decrease is less obvious here... because we have to pay massive taxation on the fuel. :/

whilst i am never happy with "taxation" i'm reasonably happy with the price at the pumps now.

I'm not. I think we are still being ripped off!

Re: Why Rip Us Off At A Time Like This Mr. Brown. Oil Has Halved In Price..
As I don't drive now the price at the pump doesn't affect me in that way, but it does affect other essentials, such as food and especially gas and Leckie, but asking messages Brown and Darling to cut fuel tax will always fall on stony ground, they don't pay for their own petrol anyway

Re: Why Rip Us Off At A Time Like This Mr. Brown. Oil Has Halved In Price..
yeh but unless ive been living in "La La Land, british fuel prices have ALWAYS been higher than other countries (due to high taxation) did the opposition do this in the last recession? so to me, much as i dislike high taxes, it makes no difference who is in power, it will always be so, also think its pathetic trying to score cheap political points oer summat that happens whatever party is in. but if that floats yer boats carry on saddos.

Can't see that anyone is trying to score political pionts here, but sorry to have to say mate, that anyone who is happy with the price of fuel in the UK, with the effect it is having on the Industrial side as well as the man on thr street, is most definately living in CLOUD CUCKOO LAND,

Re: Why Rip Us Off At A Time Like This Mr. Brown. Oil Has Halved In Price..
the oil companies put the price of petrol up when they had to pay more .... so now they are paying less why cant they lower the price .... the taxation on petrol is the same it was before it went up so why ask the government to lower the tax ... its the petrol companies that set the price

I'll try again for the last time.For every £1 spent on petrol 20p is shared between-The garage owner-The employee-the council-the gas,electric and water boards-the PRS-The tanker driver-the haulage firm-the refinery etc.
The other 80p goes to the government.:bangh8::bangh8: |

Any supplier who sells it for more than 92.9p per litre is giving less per pound spent to the government. The price needs to come down to 85.5p per litre before the government is picking up 80p in the pound. When it peaked at £1.30 a litre, the government's take was 75p per litre, or 57.7p in the pound. |
