Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
I see that Adams clothes shop for children has closed in Accrington.
There was a sign saying permanently closed in the window today. That didn't take long. Where can you buy children's clothes in Accy now? There's Asda and a small section in Marks and Spencer and I think that's it. :( |

From knowledge of the industry - I believe Card Warehouse have gone and 50% of its stores are being taken by Card Factory, Birthdays are having a big rationalisation and Clintons will be next to feel the pinch

Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
Accy is going to be a ghost town very soon at this rate, retail industry is in a very bad way & the knock on effect is definately being felt, will be finding our fate very shortly but means more work with less staff as hrs are to be cut for the lucky ones still in work this month.

Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
JJb are closing the accy branch as i heard but is the ripples of possiblity of them going bust soon.

Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
Also trouble is once shops start going & units become empty its going to be very hard for businesses & other retail outfits to be attracted to moving into the town, so more units staying empty as there weren't enough empty to start with. People who can will go to either neighbouring bigger towns to shop, less money to the town higher unemployment, crime & depravity of empty units leading to vandalism etc, those who cant are stuck with little choice & higher prices. I think HBC really need to step in as well as local gov.
Accy is dying a death as a town:( |
Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
I hope they don't let the town go further than it is..... we used to have a lot going for us: but I guess its pretty much the same for a lot of other towns..... sign of the times and all that: where will it all end:
