Well i do not know about you lot but i have had to take some serious crap off all the Germans today.God i am rooting for the dutch tomorrow.See when england lose i get this off about 500 Germans.When we win i get to dish it out to 500.Which way would you guys prefer?

Neal,

If you're going to be flying it all the time, then treat the flag with the dignity it deserves...get youself a proper flagpole or something similar for your rooftop....whatever you do, don't have it flying from your ariel or whatever. As regards the car/van - then get a "sticky" flag(s) and put it on the sides or back...anything is better than the cheap mass produced rubbish so gaily fluttering alongside every fifth vehicle.

I would love a proper flag pole but i dont think the council would allow that somehow (Height) even though my house is my own. With the aerial, it's just an aerial and it can be seen when you come off the motorway.

AS for the car, they will be staying for many moons.....unless I can get a flag pole on the car.

If this doesn't make sense, i've just finished work!

tea ive got a flag from my house window 2 on my car as well as a sticker on my bumper & 2 union jack windmills in my garden & im proud to fly the flag on my english rusty car// :engsmil:

No I'm not French, though I have spent some time there.

Supporting the England team is a good excuse for having a few beers, however I get a bit distrubed when people on this site start 'having a go' at the asian population every time the notion of patriotism rears its ugly head. I actually think that the vast majority of young asians will be behind the England team all the way. Do the millions of English living abroad suddenly start to support their host countries ? I think not.

Regarding the WW2 veterans, most of them would turn in their graves to think of the drunken bigotted antics of many of those who purport to honour them.

Talking of WW2 veterans, I'm pretty sure they would be turning over in their graves if they saw the numbers of our Asian friends occupying England, and the state of "positive discrimination", plus the way our pensioners are treated . My old man spent 11 years in Rawlpindi, NW Frontier and India in the 20's and 30's, and I know exactly what he would be thinking and say about our "New Neighbours". I also spent 4 years in the Middle East, and my son was in Desert Storm. So we have our opinions.

Seriously though, Humour is the lifeblood of the English race, so don't try to reduce it or complain about it, just do as most do, laugh and get on with it.

There is good and bad in every race, but we don't enforce our ways on any one!!

My son is 12 and came home telling me of Asians in his school writing FRANCE on there arms and chanting FRANCE at the "white" lads........................

My son and these asian lads were both born in ENGLAND........ We have a huge problem in this country and it is NOT "white" people being racist.

Simon, I agree how very sad it is and it isn't helped by some teachers' attitudes either.

My daughter was bullied by an Asian boy - she reported it to a teacher and subsequently so did I but was the boy reprimanded? I'm afraid not. It's almost as if they are afraid to do so for fear of being called racist but in my opinion this IS racism because if it had been a white kid intimidating an Asian then the white kid would have been punished

England is a nation if immigrants and always has been. We will all have to accept the fact and get on with your lives. Remember we select neither our country of birth nor our religion.

For somebody to get upset by a few 'asian?' children claiming to support France is rather amusing. In any case, should people not be free to support whichever team they wish ?
I'm sure that the Italian immigrants will be (were) supporting Italy. I'm also sure people of West Indian descent were supporting Jamaica in the '98 WC. Many of Irish descent support the Irish team.
Who claims that people are offended by the English/British flags ? This is utter rubbish and a myth purveyed by the gutter press. There will always be loonies on left and right. The papers love them as they provide them with much needed garbage to print.

It's not only the 'gutter press' as you call it. What about shops being told to remove Christmas displays from their windows for fear of upsetting non-Christians? I'm a Christian but when I see displays relating to other religions it doesn't offend me. I love the Chinese New Year celebrations but I have no connection with China whatsoever.

My children attend schools with multi cultural and multi racial mix of pupils. They learn about other beliefs and I think that's a good thing.

Well guys i can only tell you what i get told.The Germans tell me i have to respect the ways of the country i live in, even if i feel that they are wrong.I believe that this is what its all about.However i tell them that they have to respect my views on certain things that i find wrong.
This way it comes to a better understanding of 2 cultures living together.Its tolerance that counts and being English i can understand all this.After all i was ashocked when i saw the new housing estate on Ormerod street and the names being in Hindu on the street plates.How can anybody be expected to integrate when there is no incentive to learn.
My 2 girls here love fish#n# chips but also like the bavarian local dishes too.Its hard to meet a happy medium but that can only be done when tolerance is shown from both sides
