This is the emergency information page
for people who work at the BBC.

This page will only be updated in the
event of a major incident.

For information on day to day incidents
please call: 0800 0688 159

I wonder what that’s all about. Does the BBC know something that we don’t?

For the non-believers see the attachment.

I first noticed it three days ago but dismissed it as some sort of prank. But as the page is still up I thought that it was time to comment about it.

And you, at 20:16 on a Saturday evening, have nothing better to do than post infantile comments.

Will Ceefax carry on after the digital changeover?

Re: Ceefax Page 159.

Out of curiosity I rang the quoted number (0800 0688 159) (it’s free so why not) and heard a female Scottish voice inform me that as from the 3rd December there were no incidents in the BBC buildings.

Well that is comforting to know.

But why would the BBC staff need to know if there were?

Is the BBC expecting something? If so - what? Does the BBC expect some terrorist group taking over the BBC?

Methinks that whoever organised this has been watching too many episodes of “Spooks”.

Its standard Business Continuity Management. All large companies are required to have a process in place such that information can be communicated in the event of a major incident. e.g. Television Center is under a bomb threat, this is how they will tell people where to go and what to do.

In my case we all have to register with BCM are checked every 6 months by receiving text messages and voice action calls, we have to sign that we understand the procedures and those of us like me who do Live Systems support know where we have to go to do our job. Its good practice for all companies. In our case it was tested recently in our Mumbai offices during teh recent trouble and worked flawlessly quickly confirming all staff as safe and all business process as uninterupted.
