Always check your xmas lights for splits/snags & ALWAYS turn off your lights when your going out or going to bed(i know dozens of people that don't)......

I am always surprised when I see old style 240V mains tree lights on Christmas trees in schools and nurseries. Safer low voltage ones are so cheap now why take the risk? If you have the old 240v lights - the ones that don't have a transformer - if you break a bulb and touch the filament you could get a full 240v mains electric shock.

And just to add, my lights are new and I turn them off before I go to bed :D
