Very obliging sort of a bloke really, made sure the council could nab him and take him to court, wish all fly tippers were so considerate:D

He's probably not that dim. How much would a licence and visits to the tip have cost him ? Probably more than £300

Re: What a dimwit!!

I hardly see this fine as a deterrent, if it costs £330,000 per year to clear up after the illegal tippers, we need three hundred and ninety four prosecutions just to break even, (never mind legal costs), just because the fine is so minimal!
(£330).

Perhaps it's time they dropped charges for Whinney Hill tip?

If the builders etc. could tip for free maybe the council wouldn't have to clear up after the Cowboy's?

Sorta' agree here Less, as the cost from tradesmen is probably passed on to us, however, if they stopped charging them, would our Council Tax increase ? No win situation. There again they would gain by not having to clear up after the 'cowboys'.

Furniture dealers would take your old furniture away, and us not having the bother to ring the council to take old beds, settees away for free. Again, however, would this reduce our council tax ?

Getting economically confused now ...

Re: What a dimwit!!

I think this is no more than a protest at the ridiculous charges of properly getting rid of our waste.

In a country where littering on the street leads to a fine of £75 and overfilling your wheely bin costs an average of £100... what would you choose to do? On the spot fixed penalty too so taking you to court over either of these things isn't likely to happen before someone turns around and says that the courts wouldn't let that go unnoticed. :p

Perhaps we should be frowning at the real problem here which is clearly the council!

Re: What a dimwit!!

If the LCC removed the charge at Whinney Hill site our landfill capacity would soon get filled by builders from outside our area
It is a nationwide problem which needs a national solution.

Because the only way to get a job these days is to be in at least £15,000 debt and have it written down on a fancy certificate that I can read for 3yrs and have no life?

And presumably you are retired?

So...principled protestor making a noble stand against local council waste disposal policy...or traveller dumping his garbage before he moves on to foul up another part of the country...the choice is yours.

I know which one my money's on. ;)

My money is staying in my pocket. Gambling leads to far worse consequences :p
