Tony Blair mid-east Peace envoy missing in action

Palestinians are being slaughtered by the hundreds, Israel is on the verge of starting WW3 ....and where is Tony Blair ?, chosen/appointed by the UN, US, EU and Russia as peace envoy to the Middle-East
Haven't seen or heard word from him for weeks , it's obvious he is not in the Gaza exerting his moral "authority" trying to protect the kids being shelled and bombed, otherwise we would have seen his grinning face on a TV ops.
Cynical sod that I am , I'm thinking he is down in a deep bunker somewhere with his pals George Bush, Dick Cheney and Ehud Olmert planing how much more damage they can do to world during the last days of the administration .

I thought you would be all for the shelling and bombing, is it not the American way these days?

What would you suggest Israel does to stop the rockets landing on it's people?

Pull back to their original 1948 borders , and return all stolen and occupied lands .

I'm with the Israelis on this one ... How can we, with any moral conviction, sit here, safe, in our democracies and suggest - no, insist - that Israel negotiate with a group of militant Islamic extremists whose only policy is the obliteration of the Israeli state?

From what I've heard SJ our Tony has been exercising his tongue on the lecture circuit in your neck of the woods, it was only the other day that he was reported to have said during a speaking engagement in the US that the economic success of his 10 years Premiership was more to good luck than good management, amen to that;)

There is a bunch of rent a gobs claiming to represent the palestinians are mouthing of about what Israel is doing to the people they"claim" to represent. Yet these same people dont seem to be gobbing off about the narrow minded people that are launching the rockets. It was the minority that dont seem to be under command, though they are supposed to be that kicked off this latest mess. Again the innocent are paying the price for the actions of a group brain washed arrogant ignorent narrow minded selfish pig headed creeps.

They say that they are protecting their people yet its this so called "protection" that has started this fiasco and brought about the Israeli response. If Isreal walks in, well drives in in tanks these people will be ranting and raving for a full uprising. It is as though the only way that the people in power in the Strip and West Bank is to provoke The isreali's then claim they will protect them. Its as though they believe that a war is good for your standing and improves their power base. They could get their butts kicked and still be in power by claiming they did what they could to protect the populace.

Thing is though these militants will hide among the civillians and use them as a human shield knowing that the international community would be unhappy. It is almost as though These militants are taunting the international community and in a perverse way enjoying it. It looks like they are shoving the international sign of distain up in the face of the world. Sadly the world hasnt got a clue or the bottle to something about this mess. This will go on and on and on.

Isreal will not fall or fail but the countries that helped create Isreal in 1948 must have known that when the country came into existance there would be trouble. Either that or these countries were more short sighted than Mr Magoo.

Maybe the mess started in 1948 should be undone and things returned to how they were. What right did a group of Countries have to decide it was ok to create a new country - unless I am seeing things wrong.

well an old soldier, who is now passed away used to tell me regular, how wrong he thought that was, he also used to say, that if WW2 had gone on another few years, we would not have this problem.

Think that was an opinion held by more than a few Ex WW2 servicemen in the early and mid fifties , especially after the Bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem by the Stern gang

Sorry made a mistake in my earlier post , it was the Irgun not the Stern gang that blew up the BRITISH King David Hotel , the Stern gang was a beakaway faction of the Irgun . Both classed as terrorist organizations by the British , both later supplied leaders to the Israeli Govt.

Many in the Western World are expressing anger, shock and dismay at the civilian casualties in Gaza .... but within living memory: London, Coventry, Hamburg, Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki. Bottom line is: Israel can't afford to lose. The "ethnic cleansing" that would follow their defeat .... well, think about it.

I see Tony has made an appearance in the Middle East fresh from being awarded the Freedom medal from George W, the highest civil award in the States. Will recieve it on Jan 13th just before George gets kicked out of the White House
