STOLEN 37yr old CLASSIC CAR FROM ACCRINGTON!!!
 

Hi all, i dont know if this is right or not, but need to get as much publicity as possible!

My Classic 1971 Saab 99 chrome bumper model in white was stolen in the early hours of 16/01/09. The car had just undergone light restoration and come back onto the roads in accrington in December, and ive been using it since..
The car reg is DHW299K, and is my pride and joy as i did all the work myself, so there is alot of sentimental value there. Along with it only havin 74500mls on the clock and me being the 3rd owner in 37yrs. If anyone knows one of these cars it looks out of place in the modern world and there is only a handful in the country left..

I'll keep my eyes open for it, hate to say this but a car like that will most likely have been stolen to use as spares or some idle git to lazy to restore their own will just swap id

Hi the car was stolen from Annie Street Accrington, opposite were they found the car involved in the Padiham rapist case!!!

well if its still in the vicinity, its not really gonna be hard to miss is it?, ya rarely see classic cars on the road.

Hey Paul
I hope you get the car back - people who are not into cars just don't realise how much work and dedication go into keeping a classic car on the road.
Make sure you regularly check Ebay for it being advertised.

if not, send them your picture.
I am amazed that cars cannot be found using the ANPR (Number plate recognition).
I would like to see an ANPR camera on every street corner, if your car was stolen it could be accurately tracked but unfortunately there is no money to be made from decent, honest and hard working folk, except when they exceed the speed limit by a little bit.

Glad to hear it mate. Sounds like joy riders as it would have been in bits if it was taken for its parts/condition. Hopefully they just hammered it around a bit and didn't do too much mechanical damage.

Its not that bad... They got in by the old door trick at bending it out! but its bent back in no worries! The bumpers have taken a battering both front and back as have the gearbox (wont select 2+4 properly) and theyve scraped down the offside so will have to see whether it will need spraying again?!!

The car was found on Willow Brook car park, dont think they been doing handbrake turns in it as the handbrake is on the front wheels, but what area do you live in as im still missing the number plate off the front?

And they left me a pressie as well! Their MP3 player was found in the car!!!!lol

If the police make an effort to find the thieves you will be fortunate.
Now you have it back I expect it will not warrant any further police action/expense.
If they don't catch thieves redhanded and there has been no violence to persons, such cases tend to be shelved

There are still items missing from the car, but i know deep down i dont think their going to carry it on.. The other thing i'm not happy about is the fact it cost me £150 to get it out of the impound! I'm the victim not the Offender!!
