Location of Accrington area pubs

jumping from another thread, .......is there anyway that an Accyweb user with computer skills can set up an "interactive" map of Hyndburn showing the locations of all the old pubs and W.M.clubs (with original names and new names), maybe linked to Google earth so we can see what has replaced the ones no longer standing

just an idea , thanks

The only trouble he can't, just like me, remember where they all are, having been in most under an alcoholic haze:D

I seem to recall the Landlord of the Boars Head saying that he was researching as many of the old pubs around here as he could, with regards location, landlords, history etc, but not sure what form this was going to take. Not been in there for some time, so not sure how this is progressing.

Seem to remember that somewhere close to Accy, maybe Clitheroe way or in the Yorkshire (sorry about the "bad" word) Dales, there were two pubs separated by a car park ... one of the pubs was the Brown Cow and the other, the Black Bull ... I remember that folks called the parking lot "The Brindled Calf."

I was wondering how many of the fine establishments I was requested to leave are still there ... I know the Village Blacksmith on Bayley St. is gone, but what about the Forts Arms, the Load of Mischief, the Black Dog in Ossy, the Junction, the New Brewery etc.

God damned smoking Nazis ... helping to ruin a wonderful part of what England is all about ...

Over here the "English Pub" is enjoying great popularity .... I know we are talking replicas here, but the idea of a smallish establishment were there are lots of regulars has strong support among Kingston's drinkers ... the newest edition, the "Iron Duke" on Wellington St. (go figure, eh) is doing really well ... popular with the boozers and those who like really good pub grub.:theband:

But it is sad to see the old haunts go .... pubs I used to drink in ... gone, the brewery where I had a summer job .... gone, the hospital I was born in ..... gone. I'm starting to take all this personally:mad:

WEll Eric, the breweries have gone to, except Thwaites, the Load of Mischief is long gone , they put a motorway through it. I think the Comercial is an Indian restuarant now. and theres only the bottom club open now,
