I really like this bit-
designer’ street furniture, including decorative benches drawing inspiration from the town’s architectural heritage.:D

The view from the top should be nice, especially from a caravan window.

Coun Britcliffe said: “The ideas presented here provide positive and exciting ways to help West Accrington regain the pride in itself and the sense of place that it once had."

What better way could there be to waste council taxpayers money during the current recession? Is this the reason for the increase in Council Tax?

Does anyone know where the money is coming from for this? Is it part of Elevate or something?

It's gonna take a hell of a lot of seeds to turn the ruins of Blackburn Road into wild-flower meadows:confused:

Hello - I am Vietnamese man offering help to grow large plantation of sweet smelling flowers on this hill! I have plenty of experience of cultivation in old derelict buildings and empty pubs and takeaway shops. Can offer council contribution when crop grown and plants make good medicine for arthritic pensioners!

Never knew Star st existed and I was brought up not far from there, always thought that was a back alley rather than a street

I have a pdf copy of the full West Accrington report. It's too big to post on here but if anyone wants to email me on [email protected], I will email the copy to them.

It's full of ideas. At the moment that's all they are - ideas. Some good, some bad, some possible, some not.

I'm not involved in this project so don't know a lot about it. I think the report and the ideas were funded by Elevate. There is a list at the end of the book which outlines the funding situation.

As Gayle says there are lots of ideas about how West Accrington.

I don't know if any of you are aware, but there are plans to create a square outside St Andrew's Church by knocking down the houses on Empress Street facing the Church and the ones on Blackburn Road (immediately tot the rear of the ones on Empress Street).
