Believe in ghosts! I share my house with a couple of them ... and for those who would argue that animals don't have souls, one of them is a cat:eek: The other ghost seems harmless enough, wears a soft hat and a brown cloak ... always has his head down. Don't know the history of the ghost; but parts of my house, the foundations and part of my basement wall, have been here since the 1840s ... the rest of it just grew haphazzardly over the years, kinda like my beard did:D
In general, Kingston is a haunted city, regularly featured on a tv show you don't get, called "Creepy Canada". There is even a foot tour of the haunted parts of the city called "Hautned Walks of Kingston." Probably lots of info on this on The City of Kingston's web site. Happy hauntings:mosher: |

Re: paranormal
As an aside: belief in the spirit world is more common in certain cultures than it is in others ... just chatting with an Algonquin friend of mine, and in the Algonquin culture, as with most First Nations, belief in the spirit world is accepted without question by many people. Of course, there aren't too many First Nations people in Hyndburn:D

Re: paranormal
We have a ghost in our house, we call him Caspar as he is very friendly!
He has only been around since my son was born (now 3), and I think he`s getting ready to move on anyway. He almost feels like a guardian angel.. 1/ At 12:15 one night I was asleep and had only been asleep 10 minutes. I then had this "dream" about a face appearing through a hole and saying "I`m here". My missus then woke me up and said "my waters have just broken". After the birth she said she was amazed at how cool and calm I had been and I said it was because the dream warned me 2/ We had a piano. One day I noticed this big nail on the keyboard bit. As our son was crawling at the time I said to the missus "oh well done for picking that up as it could have hurt him". She never moved it there and neither did I and I know for a fact it wasnt on their about an hour earlier. 3/ When we lose "things" they magically re-appear where we know they werent because we both checked not five minutes earlier. It always happens when we both say "well it ought to be there....." 4/ We had a christmas gift of 4 photo sessions at a photography studio for the little one. We got a special deal on one of the BIG pictures and we ordered two smaller ones. When we picked up the big one the woman said the little ones were in the box, but they werent as we both checked. We rang up the studio who apologised and said they would send replacements. As soon as we put the phone down , I moved the box and the photos came out....I guarantee they werent there before. However the two extra photos were given to grandparents 5/ We brought the little one home when he was still in his pushchair and left him strapped in whilst we carried the shopping to the kitchen. When we turned round he was out of his pushchair, stood up and talking to ...no-one. The straps had been released (so he hadnt wiggled out) and at the time he wasnt dextrous enough to release them himself. 6/ We often use to catch the little one talking to nobody and having a really good conversation. 7/ There are very familiar smells at certain times and areas in the house. Sounds weird, but you know how some people have a specific smell you identify with them, this one if from my grandfather who I was very close to and has been dead for 10 years. And I honestly believe he`s around somewhere As I said its going away now as he is getting older. At no time were we scared by this ghost, as we honestly believed he was there to look out for our son. And I am a sceptic BTW. Most haunted...tosh. Mediums etc ...charlatans (thats my basic views). But this is different. |

my first encounter was when i was 10/11 we moved in to this house in woodnook area and i have 3 younger siblings and 2 older siblings and one of my youngest brothers was only about 3 months old and he was in his cot asleep and the time was about 12 midnight i woke up and my brother was floating over his cot i tryed to wake my sister but she was in a deep sleep so i turned over and tryed to sleep again the next day my other brother was a sleep and he was screaming like mad and he got out of bed and went under is bed and he was still asleep my mum had to wait till he woke up to move him because it dangours to wake a sleep walker 2nd time was we moved to great harwood and me and my sister was doing the dishes and i went thought to the living room to pick up the cups and i went back thought to the kitchen and out of now where the cups flew right out of my hands 3rd time we moved again to haslingden and as when we are kids we had to earn pocket money so my mum said i had to clean my room to get my pocket money so i spent a good hour and a half in my room and i went down to get my mum and she kept putting it off so when so finally went up stairs she to check before i got my money and she called me up so i went back up and my room was a mess again so she left me to sort it again and while i was cleaning something was messing it back up again so i ran down the stairs to tell my mum and she went up stairs to find the cloths fling all over my room and i had a dog and he wouldnt go anywhere near my room as they say animals can sence things more the humans so hope this will helps you to tell us some of your stories because it happens to anyone :):):) |

Re: paranormal
Come across a few in my time. The first when I visited the boarded up home of Dr.Buktyar Rustomi (Buck Ruxton) as he became.
He's the guy who killed his wife and maid, cut up the bodies and dumped them in a ravine in Scotland. The women still haunt or at least did when I went there the house and surgery in Dalton Square Lancaster.:eek: Second one was the White Lady from Salmesbury Hall.Don't know anything about her except I nearly crashed the car I was driving. There were two at Spring Hill club one used to turn the gas cylinders off and continued to do so for years after I left, the other just seamed to look around now and again.:tongueout Strange thing they were all white, why do you never see a black one?:D |
