If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I'd book all the stupid people for minor traffic offences such as
Fog Lights when its not foggy, Using a hand held mobile whilst driving no seatbelts I sat with a coffee this affy and could have booked at least a dozen people in less than an hour. Why do people feel that the rules don't apply to them? So what would your day be doing? |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
can you add people that dont use car seats for their kids or dont use them properly??
fgs it a safety device, not a restraint.... REALLY bugs me!! |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I would have those lazy ******* that park on the school zig zags.
Can you lock up and through away the key for dog owners that don't clean up after there dogs? I would do the mobile thing bit as well as no seat belts/child seats. |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
oooh we got a letter from school..... someone is walking their dog, picking up the mess and throwing it over the fence into the yard!! thats ridiculous!!

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I would arrest all drivers listening to music with their windows down
Your taste in music should not be inflicted on others a few days ago the man in the flat below me inflicted 3 hours on Roy Orbison on me - I politely reminded him that it appears his ears need syringing again:rolleyes: |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
i doubt it but at least we know to watch out for bags of dog do
|
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I would focus on the ones who are determined to get in front whatever the cost,
Drivers who hog the middle lane on motorways. The young drivers who think the accelerator is more important than the brake. So many young drivers are killed these days....I think the driving test should be more in keeping with the current conditions....take the applicants on the motorways and see how they cope. |

They would be the top three on my list too. |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
i'd seriously think of topping myself, i would just feel its a waste of time n effort booking any begger. all the paperwork involved, the smart ass lawyers, the human rights n P.C. brigades, the next to useless sentences that HAVE to be made, probably cos the jails are overflowing, no ian ta, ya can keep it, i have no wish to be a policeman fer 1 hour.

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I would have to spend some time booking the plebs that can’t see 8 foot long white arrows indicating the direction of travel on Asda car park. Folk that dangle the front wheels of their prams over the edge of the kerb into the road would have to be taken to one side for a word. Those that don’t wear seat belts, mobile phone users and motorway middle lane huggers…oh and any lazy sod that just drops litter.
Looks like I would be a fairly busy copper for the day. |

Well said. We have an area in town that is for buses and taxis ONLY. every now and then the police will have a day booking motorist who drive through after ignoring the signs. If the Police were there everyday for a week I reckon that would be half my council tax bill just in fines. |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I'm glad none of you lot are policepeople, I'd like to think the real police are more interested in solving/preventing proper crimes than the pointless stuff that has been mentioned above!

So is it pointless when someone is driving along talking to their partner about whats for tea that night when the traffic lights change up in front and someone steps off the pavement and they knock them down? Is it pointless if someone wearing a seatbelt in a car accident ends up going through the windscreen? etc etc etc... By the way i wouldnt want to be a policewoman either .... they dont get paid enough for the hassle they get .... |

What we do see is many of the driving offences mentioned that are more often or not just ignorant drivers. |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I'd love to stop and search the scum who drive round in souped-up cars with blacked out windows.
They might as well play a tune like an icecream van, becuse they certainly attract as many customers. Sadly I've been placed on the Protection Squad, so am unable to cary out the duties I'd prefer to be doing.:D |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I'd make a beeline for people who park on spaces reserved for the disabled drivers and drivers who straddle two parking spaces on car parks because they are to lazy to park right. I only home that my comments dont start Rindi and JB off on another one:D

Me because I happen to agree with you, and Jambutty because he'd want to park in one of those designated parking space himself, displaying his badge of course, whilst his able bodied passenger skipped of and went merrily about his business. |

i know somone that puts his main beam on when he finds somone driving towards him with their fog lights on just to let them know what its like to be distracted etc ;) naturally he wont do it if theres a car infront of him as its not that particualr drivers fault some idiot feels the need to illumite the planet and blind oncoming drivers |

i agree they need to cut the paperwork down and let cops from all departments get on with their jobs |

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
Drivers don't just use their mobiles to talk on I saw a driver the other day texting whilst driving. These might seem like minor offences but are the police going to wait till they cause an accident before they do something about it?

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I'd sit in Tim Horton's and see how many donuts I could eat ....
|
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I would arrest every chav I could find who had their stupid trackies tucked into their stupid socks, it's a fashion crime! A couple of days litter picking and scraping gum off pavements is the cure!:)

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
Not sure because the amount of paperwork to do would leave me very little time to make an impact. How can we say that in a day we could do what we state when the regs cant. Everyone has diferent priorities on what should be nailed first. We have it easy really and finding time to do what we think is top of the list is for one day on hear is as easy as typing the reply.
Lets just be vigilanties and have done with it.:D |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
If you were a copper for the day, you would probably find yourself on an ethnic minorites awareness course; completion of that would probably see you transferred to the lesbian, gay and domestic violence unit, which in Accy's case is about 200 strong.
I am reliably informed however, that traditonal, hard-hitting policing is still carried out in the Borough; A foot patrol goes out every other tuesday and thursday, weather permitting. There is no hesitation in making arrests, providing the paperwork can be done by knocking-off time. |

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
I would agree with many of the comments above, and include red light jumpers, and the people who dont indicate to change lanes or even to turn corners (including the police I have witnessed several times recently), I also agree that more serious crime is more important, but if you stop the nonchalant driving habits, it is easier to make people think twice about more serious crimes.

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
A lot of people have mentioned using a mobile phone whilst driving, it always baffles me about this. I the scheme of things the mobile phone is rather new, only 10 or so years ago if you wanted to make a phone call you had to schlep all over the place looking for one of those little red boxes by the side of the road, and if you couldn't find one which was working (most of them were vandalised) you had to wait till you got home or to where ever you were going. To me anybody caught using a mobile phone whilst driving should be an automatic 3 months driving ban, 6 months for a second offence and increasing by three months after that, maybe if this were to happen a few more minds may be focused on the fact that using a phone and driving is very dangerous and considering that not to long ago you couldn't do it anyway makes it more so. RANT OVER

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
Sat navs are just has bad, many times iv shouted at me fella for using it while driving, IMO its like texting!!.....naughty!!
|
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
Anything that distracts is dangerous.
I never use a car radio. I have never bought a car radio. When my current car came with one ready fitted, I tested it briefly before the warranty period ended just to see if it worked. Whenever I have passengers, I politely explain to them before setting off, that I prefer not to have any conversation with them |
Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
Mmm, I'd not agree with you there Margaret. Music helps me focus. On my bike I tend to sing to myself whilst riding, luckily the engine's loud enough to drown me out :D

Re: If I was a Policeman for just one day.....
how about people that dont bother to indicate? nearly got hit by one of those this morning!
oh, and the people that think reversing the wrong way down a one way street is ok, just cos your car is facing the right way doesnt mean you can do it! |
