Back off big brother????
Why is the observer so against this takeover bid.
http://www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/..._id=11368.html Is it because if the takeover did happen, the telegraph might take over all the paper sales? Or are they impressed by the way that hyndburn has ruled the borough. Your views please? |

Re: Back off big brother????
Come on, Scott - tell the truth. You're prepared to see Blackburn make a landgrab over Hyndburn because you want a "Blackburn & Hyndburn Residents Tennis Card", so you get 10p per hour off every time you play tennis at Corporation Park.

Re: Back off big brother????
I don't want us to lose our identity and become part of Blackburn.

Re: Back off big brother????
we are accrington, we are hyndburn, i dont wanna give ppl another excuse to support rovers.

Re: Back off big brother????
No not for tennis reasons. My reason is because the area i live in doesnt get any investment or money spent on it. We have nothing to do around here, no football fields that arent private property. no park. nothing.
People who dont want to lose their identity, i find that rich considering hyndburn is a merger of several towns it self. |
Re: Back off big brother????
What makes you think that your area would have more money spent on it if Hyndburn came under the remit of Blackburn council????
|
Re: Back off big brother????
On the subject of identity perhaps the people of the smaller towns weren't all that keen on becoming part of Hyndburn either at the time. The current situation is similar to the prospect of Britain becoming part of a USE (united states of Europe) some would say they wouldn't want to lose their identity there either and other Europeans could argue that Britain is already a group of small countries so has no identity.
I just feel that Accrington and the rest of Hyndburn are quite separate from Blackburn and I'd really like it to stay that way. |
Re: Back off big brother????
The only way forward for people who wish to preserve their Identify and individuality is to stand up and be counted…notwithstanding this statement, people should also be prepared to get involved at the grass roots level and assist those who can respond with a voice of authority and lead when it come to the fight…Like any Battle, in the end there's strength in numbers….Count me in.

Re: Back off big brother????
I'm sending off my petition for Back off Big Brother. Hyndburn council may not be the best in the country but it won't get better being part of Blackburn (just speak to a couple of people from Darwen!).
