M.P. not welcome in Canada ...

One of your MPs has been refused entrance to Canada ... because of his expressed sympathy for the Taliban and his financial support of Hamas, George Galloway has been denied entry to Canada ... good idea or not?

And in other news today, the Taliban that he has been sympathetic to, killed 4 more Canadian soldiers and wounded 8.

I wish he was denied entry here!..even though he is a British citizen...seems to me his life is devoted to causing aggro.

Maybe if he was sent to live over along side the troops on the front line for a 6 month period he wouldnt be so Taliban friendly.

What a shame, you won't get to see his pussy!

YouTube - George Galloway Destroys Himself

This Member of Parliament's couple of weeks stay in the celebrity Big Brother house, was whilst the House of Commons was sitting, by the way.

Respect.

(That's his political party, not an endorsement from me.):D

Saw this on Channel Four news. Canadian officials came off very badly. Made it seem like they were rejecting the right of freedom of speech for a democratically elected MP of the United Kingdom. I don't know enough about Canadian security policies or Galloway's actual politics to wade in with a comment, but that's how it all came across on the news.

saw the same interview myself Shaker ..Canada has more or less the same rules on freedom of speech as here in the UK.. they rejected Galloway for reasons of he could be a threat to National Security.. the same reasons can be used here.. there's no doubt in my mind he can be classed as a threat if he was intending to incite opposition to the Canadian forces active in Afganistan.. as Eric has told us this is at time when the Canadian troops have suffered men killed today... I don't blame them for blocking Galloway.

I'd say that is just about spot on..but this man has been denied entry because he may use the freedom of speech to incite violence..the same attitude was shown here only a few weeks ago when a Nazi bloke was deemed unfit to enter this country by the Government..the name slips my mind but I recall there were some Tories and some who call themselves left wing ...on here.....saying the bloke should have the right of free speech... you really are all right wing Nazis ain't you!

Just back from Montreal, what a wonderful city .... anyhow, the leader of the opposition, Michael Ignatieff, said in an interview that it was not a question of freedom of speech. Galloway would have every right to come here and "talk rubbish"; but the Canadian govt. considers Hamas to be a terrorist organization, (go figure, eh); and that anyone who has had links to Hamas is a security threat. Anyone who is deemed a security threat is not allowed into Canada.

In the news report I saw, Galloway said his only affiliation with Hamas was giving aid - supplied by people of the United Kingdom - to starving people in Palestine.

He is a first class twally and yet we still cant get rid of him. I am in favour of deporting him to a country that will appriciate his way of thinking (Iran maybe). Scots would be glad if he disappeared as he brings down a load of deficated effluent onto what is left of their reputation as a country. Never mind him sneaking into Canada up the Hudson let them keel haul him down it. http://www.talkbritain.co.uk/forum/i...lies/smile.gif

If the Canadians dont want to let him in to do some **** stirring then that is their right. Sadly though if they turn him away we have to ave him back. http://www.talkbritain.co.uk/forum/i...lies/frown.gif

Was lookin for a pic to have fun with but cant find a decent one.http://www.talkbritain.co.uk/forum/i...lies/frown.gif

I agree Eric, Montreal is wonderful, that's why I live here.
Yes, I agree that Galloway shouldn't be let in to Canada.

Why don't you apply to go on that programme on BBC1? It is called "Wanted Down Under" and they pay for you to go out for a week so you can see for yourself what it is like. They do it for both Australia and Canada:)

From the programme I mentioned earlier don't think either of these are stipulations for going to live in Canada. You do have to be qualified in a proffession where they are short of suitable candidates. In short really you have to be able to prove that you can support yourself and your family.

Sorry ... just can't agree that Hamas is a charitable organization .... but the point is that the Canadian govt. considers Hamas is a terrorist organization, and that anyone with any links to it is a security risk ... and whatever the rest of the world thinks about the freedom of speech issue, I am sure that the Government of Canada will act in the best interests of Canada ... 116 Canadians have come home from Afghanistan in coffins; I don't think that too many of us want to hear anyone expressing sympathy for the Taliban.

I am sure the Canadian goverment will come under criticism from many regarding freedom of speech etc etc.
Canada is using common sense.Britain should take a page out of the Canadian book

I know that Galloway has been refused entry because he is automatically labelled as a terrorist threat, but I haven't got a clue why this has been sustained.

Kingston is almost exactly halfway between Montreal and TO ... and if I get the yen to visit a major city, I choose St Catherine's over Yonge Street every time.:theband:

Re: M.P. not welcome in Canada ...

Galloway appealed the govt. decision ... and the Federal Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the Govt. of Canada ... so, he won't be coming here ... sometimes the govt. gets things right ... bottom line is: Canada considers Hamas to be a terrorist organization (that's a no-brainer), and anyone with links to any organization that Canada deems "terrorist" is not allowed into our country. Canada is our home; and we will decide who comes in.

Would it be possible to send Brown and Smith over there for some lessons Eric, I think Britain is the only country in the world that any Tom, Dick and Abdul can come here, be refused entry and then allowed to stay indefinitely. However, one bright spot, yesterday an appeals court judge ruled that people who have been refused entry to this country are not allowed free medical care, which is a step in the right direction I suppose, that is until a human rites lawyer from "Noneses are Us" takes up the fight on their behalf:(

Eric 31-03-2009 18:54

Re: M.P. not welcome in Canada ...

I think that the judge who heard the case over the weekend hit the nail on the head when he said that anyone who is not a Canadian does not have a "right" to enter Canada; entry into Canada is a "privilege, not a right".
