Thought it was a good speech. They're talking about all government spending over £25,000 being put online for the public to see where their money is going. All public sector employees earning over £150,000 will be viewable online, and anyone who provides less while asking for more money to their department will be sacked.

They seem to be really focusing on bringing the spending and debt down.

Errr.....do you mean that their salary details will be made available on line? Or do you mean that there will be a web cam following them around at their place of work?

The former, although the latter would mean even more job scrutiny to see if these people really are worth what they're paid! :D

This sounds like exciting stuff. What a shame I missed it. Never mind - I shall get a hard copy and study it diligently over the next few weeks. I hope you do the same, Andrew - maybe you could write a critical appraisal and post it on here. I'm sure that all members of Accy web would love to read it.

I think £50,000 would be more realistic, maybe even £40,000. The general public would be a little surprised to see what wages we are paying our public sector employees.

Thats a real shame that yhou feel so blinkered to 1 point of (dubious)view. Lets be honest Cashy, 10 years ago what this Labour gov are saying now would have brought a similar response from you so quite simply you are showing that your political views are so irrational and of no substanvce thnat its laughable tnhat you can even post in poltical discussions.

It a shame that as i enjoy discussing/debating stuff with you but this shows that you give no actual value to substance and only to the label of the party proposing it......

shows how little ya know, even though ya think ya do. i do not listen to ANY political party broadcasts, as i am not stupid enough to think any of ems sincere.:rolleyes: oh i used to many years ago listen to all of em, but all parties when in power have proved themselves to be liars, *******, etc, ive better things to do with me life, i just slag what i disagree with, n praise when its due, whoever is in power. anyone who thinks ANY party will be good fer em is a muppet IMHO.

Damn ... we don't get it in Canada ... I can't believe how out of touch we are:eek: I'll be glued to this thread:rolleyes: when I'm not watching reruns of Geraldo at Large. But, does anyone take this partisan propoganda seriously? It's like the segment on the Miss World contest, where the air heads tell the audience how thet would address the problems of AIDS in Africa:p

Must say cashy for once I agree with you, I don't watch talking shops anymore, watched enough in mi time, but have more important things to think of these days, I'll leave the conference watching to youngsters like Andrew, maybe when he turns 60 he may think the way we do:rolleyes:

I think you may be right there.I've spent years listening to the lies of all politicians,bankers,insurance agents,in fact all agents and now I have become immune to all their rantings,I just plod on doing my own thing.:(:confused::D.

just to let you know, Andrew, I got the speech and I started to read it. Unfortunately, I was distracted by another document that just happened to be lying around and I switched my attention to that. This was the Blackpool-Colne railway timetable November '07 to May '08. This was a truly fascinating and exciting read and somewhat eclipsed the Tory speech. I fully recommend it to you.
