Children and Talent shows

Having just watched Britains got talent and seeing the little lass get voted off and walking off the stage intears it got me wondering what people thought .?

Is it really fair to have such young children on talent shows along side adults with experience.?

My personal Opinion is " why not" I felt really sorry for that little lass but then I thought well if her parents thought her eligable for the competition in the first place surely they should have prepped her for the disapointment in the eventuality of her losing.?

what do you think???

I'm of the same opinion really.

If children are to enter these shows they need to be prepared for disappointment.

I felt sorry for Simon tonight, having to make that decision but I think the right decision was made.

It would not be fair to discard other acts purely out of not wanting to upset a child.

If children get through it should be on merit and not because the judges don't want to upset them.

I thought it was a little unfair tonight as there were at least three that could have gone through but we all knew that it would be Susan Boyle and Diversity.

That little kiddie and the Chinese girl were both good and could probably have won on another night.

Oh well, we will wait and see what happens............by the way, what happens on Wednesday night? Footie on ITV!

Glad diversity got through .. am sorry for her but thats what it is - a competition ... one has to win some have to lose .. and i hope her parents are there with a big hug for her ... she did well but i liked diversity better ... I dont see why kids cant enter in competitions but their parents and they will have to realise there is always a chance they wouldnt go through ... maybe bring back a proper sports day in schools .. then they know someone has to win someone has to lose ..

Hows the kids in the rest of the semi-finals going to cope if they dont go through ...

kids shoudl be banned from talent shows simply because its sickening to see a kid get preference over an adult that is more talented simply because they get the awwww factor in their favour

mind you that 70 odd year olod breakdancer got through and to be honest the only thing he convinced me of was that euthanasia is justifiable:rolleyes:

I think they have to put some weary ones through just to get the show rolling.
Im still shocked at some that have gone through .
That little drummer lad was excellent and deserved a place far more than the lass that got her t"ts out IMO

I love BGT But stunts like that really pee me off, its almost as bad as being ripped off with politicians at the end of the day they expect us to waste our money to vote off the no hopers that the judges have put through knowing that they are exactly that!!

I agree GC

I thought that was an act that really shouldnt and didnt desreve extra viewing. Yet Amanda and Piers both put them through, but tonight they both agreed with Simon and said that it was a disgusting act.
That is the point i m getting at about the fact that some acts were put through purely to get voted off.

IMO it wastes public money and time. ... They shouldnt and didnt deserve to be there. and the judges shouldnt be allowed to do such things
:(:(:(

From what I have seen of these shows Cherokee, the adults aren't always too good at holding back their feelings of disappointment either.

they must have known though when they entered there was a chance that the kids wouldnt get through to the semi final never mind the final ... just like everyone else .. its luck of the draw .. so the parents must have been prepared for it ...

Before I start, I did feel sorry for here.

However she wasn't as good as last time. She really just mouthed the words, as she went through the dance routine, meaning we didn't get to hear her impressive voice again.

I do believe in competition.

In a way life is a competition, with highs and lows, triumphs and losses. So I think that by being judged we learn valuable lessons.

I totally disagree with wrapping children up in cotton wool.

Doing an examination, without being graded against how their peers have done is pointless. Just as having sports days with no winners or losers, but with everyone getting a certificate for 'taking part'.

Balderdash.

Achieving something that you're good at is great, but it's also good to learn how to take defeats too...because life usually has more of those in store for us.

After reading this thread I am reassured that I am missing nothing by having my TV unplugged for the last 2 weeks

I was just wondering how they select the 5 groups of 8, It was quite obvious from the start whoever was in the same batch as Susan Boyle would be up against it from the start, if it was picked out of the hat and the same for the running order of the show, that's okay, but I doubt if it was. As for the young kid, I think she had built her own confidence up that high, because of the acalaids she had previously been given, made her exit even worse in her own mind. How the hell Earwig and Darth Useless were there beats me, I have two tiny grandsons who do a better impression on Michael Jackson than he did, think he made the mistake when he took the mask off:D
