Of course you are right to a degree Neil, but I remember the days before 'sell by' dates and we survived.
And if you bought something that was 'off' you'd take it back and get a replacement. I try, where possible to buy fresh foods, and if I can buy stuff without it being sheathed in plastic, then I do...though sometimes it is hard....everything seems to come in a tough plastic overcoat these days. |

The University allocated us a garden at the end of the rugby field and the pen runs next to it. We grow tomatoes, carrots, garlic, onions, potatoes, leeks, strawberries, pumpkins, raddishs... loads of things. It's a very satisfying way of living. |

Its the wrapped in plastic food that is impossible to sniff until your break into it. Places like Asda/Tesco would be the problem with no sell by dates

I would be worried about some things like fresh or prepacked meat,,,but yesterday i had a tin of m&s lamb curry that should have been used feb 2008.....I wasent even sick,,,lol

hang on did that indian takeaway down blackburn road get shut down a few years ago for serving cat or was it just that the cats wernt displaying sell by dates ?
