Looks like there will be trouble nationwide again. Seems that there is a dispute over a agreement that no one would be sacked while foreign workers had jobs. Sixty one were hired by another company on the site yet did not offer them to those sacked.

Anyone know if this will have an effect on petrol refining and distribution? Are we going to see queues at the pumps? Could we see cars off the road?

it depends on what you see as "big business"...all the largest industries in this country where sold off by Thatcher..including BP.. I wonder were the massive oil revenue collected by that Tory government during the 80's ended up...in thier back pockets!

back on topic...when the British workers protested and picketed the refinaries a few months ago against foriegn labour it was mostly supported on here...now it's dwindled away....maybe the Cameron boys have had second thoughts. :D

Quite right, it's about time we got this Thatcher government out. We could do with electing a Labour government in its place, then we wouldn't see situations like this anymore because they'd stand up for the rights of ordinary working people.

Oh, hang on a minute...

It does seem like a fairly underhand thing to do. Is there no legislation to hinder workers being discarded en masse for cheaper labour? If I knew where my nearest Total garage was, I'd go there and boycott it. They'd miss the custom I don't already give them
