I walked up snowden a few years ago via crib goch. I can still remember scrambling over crib goch, much worse than striding edge.I would stay away from that route.

If you don't fancy walking up snowdon, there's always the train that goes to the top of the mountain, with a cafe on the top. But that would be cheating I suppose.

Sod that I'd take the train, sounds to much like hard work going the conventional way:D

Walked up it in 87 as part of the 3 highest on mainland Uk in 24 hours and came up the valley side (cant remember the village.) The views were stunning as the clouds rolled down small valleys like rivers. In 94 cheated n took the train up.

I did the Llanberis path a couple of years back, its a longer route but not as steep as the Pyg/Miners track, its a steady slog, but on a clear day the views are worth it

Keep promising myself I'll do it again, maybe later this year

Not much competition Eric. Snowdon's about three 3.000 ft . Is it right the rockies are about 14,000 ft

Mind does anybody actually climb them, or is it like John Denver they just sing about them.

Lots of people climb them .... and lots of people take helicopters to the top and ski down them ... crazy bloody canucks:eek: .... unfortunately, avalanches claim more than a few lives every year. Personally, I like to sit in a hot tub at Banff or Lake Louise, drink in hand, and just look at them.:D

Seem to remember, vaguely, a song with the line "march up Snowdon with your woad on ..... " but the rest of it slips my mind ... too much weed, and too many years:(:D

Well I did the walk today, well worth doing and the views are out of this world even though there was a lot of cloud about when i got up there, took me about two and half hour each way but stopped quite a few times to give Molly a rest, shes only a small yorkie but really likes walking and would outwalk the best of ramblers, even when we stopped she was after carrying on, lot of people we passed both up and down couldn't believe she had walked all that way.
Took loads of photos, heres a couple for you, 1 of one of the lakes we passed on the way up, one just before the summit and one of Molly, I will work on the rest when I get home.

Re: Snowdon

To be honest Jen I think she would have walked it again!

The cloud pic I have 6 of them,I'll see if I can stitch them together so you can see it how I did.
We were going up the last climb which was probably the hardest one, hardly any cloud on our side, was amazed when I got to the top and see that

Re: Snowdon

stitch all of those pics together, print them all off and put them all in one frame for me, i'd love that pic on my wall in my living room, its so calming

Re: Snowdon

I've done it a couple of time the easiest route is the one that follows the Railway track and is great if a little busy I have also done it in the snow and ice via central gully that was reall y fun if a little extreme. All good fun and recommended, I believe there is a new visitors centre at the top now as well.
