The flaw with crocs.....
I love my crocs, they're really colourful but most of all they're comfy. I wore them all day yesterday because I knew I would be on my feet all day as i was managing the Rossendale Mela. By the end of the day my feet were fine.
BUT - and here's the flaw..... It was a really, really sunny day (my nose got burnt) and crocs have holes in the top of them. I now look like I have leopard feet where I have lots of small, circular sun tan marks on the top of my feet. |
Re: The flaw with crocs.....
Oh Gayle, I bet that looks funny.
I have those jewel type things in mine so that doesn't happen. |

O Dear and have you seen this?
Crocs stumbles $30m into the red 07/08/2009 | finance Crocs, the maker of the brightly-coloured plastic clogs, plunged to a $30m (£18m) net loss in the second quarter of the year, hit by the recession and waning popularity. Daily Telegraph |

Re: The flaw with crocs.....
Crocs have several flaws to me. First of all, the vile colours they come in. Why are they so hideous? Why are they so wide too? An elephant could fit a foot in one! I have no doubt that they are very comfy but why couldn't they make them a bit more attractive?

Lilly they do them in black and in blue too, and they are wide so that your feet are not compressed.
I have a pair of bright(some would say shocking) pink.......I have had them for almost 4years now and they are all but worn out. I love them, and when I know I am going to be on my feet and walking for long periods I wear them.......and they have never made my feet sweaty, or given me blisters. |

To be honest Gayle, noticed you had them on at a meeting the other night .. and couldn't help thinking ... 'What the ....! ' .. distracted me like .... LOL. Ok ... I am into comfort these days on my feet, but sure there is more attractive footwear that would fit the bill. I would rather walk barefoot on cinders that wear this abomination of footwear. Back to the sun, always funny when people finish up with a wristwatch mark or chain mark. :D |
Re: The flaw with crocs.....
Kate, my sister brought me mine over from Oz......and my hubby took an instant and abiding dislike of them......that made me all the more determined to wear them.
To be honest, I think you are far too refined a lady to wear this type of footwear....and as far as other forms of footwear being just as comfortable.......well, I like the flyflot shoes as they give a good level of comfort, but because your feet are enclosed, they get sweaty(smelly).......and believe me, there isn't a form of footwear that is more comfortable......Ok, they aren't attractive, but I have got to the age now where comfort comes first. |

Hope Willow not looking in .. know she was a great fan of these. :) Anyway, thank you for the compliment of being a refined lady .. tee hee .. but this is nothing to do with fashion at all. |

Re: The flaw with crocs.....
We need a picture of your spotty feet Gayle :D :D :D

Re: The flaw with crocs.....
I agree they might be comfortable but they ain't that attractive.
They make the 'cornish pastie' shoes worn by unmarried geography mistresses look positively dainty. :D |

Kate I have bought many pairs of sandals which have looked comfy, and for a short time they have felt comfy....but for 6 hours slogging the streets of Edinburgh pushing Ma in the chair....give me my crocs....and I don't care if they look minging....I had not one single blister or chafe......yet a pair of Ravel summer sandals...and three hours walking round the shops in Manchester and my feet were like raw meat. I chose the sandals because foolishly I thought they were comfy, and because of vanity too I guess. |
Re: The flaw with crocs.....
I have Ravel shoes .. and they 'aint comfy .. not meant to be .. LOL.
Found the cheapest of sandals have been the most comfy funnily enough. I understand you need comfy shoes on your little expeditions with your wonderful ma' ... but I have also had to walk miles in warm summers around the streets of hot cities, trying to look smart when arriving at appointments .. but like I say, have always found footwear that has done the job. 'Horses for Courses' as they say .. just don't want to finish up looking like one .... :D:D |
Re: The flaw with crocs.....
I know they're not the most attractive things in the world but.... I have a pair of Jimmy Choo's if I want to look sophisticated. When I was working on Sunday and on my feet from 9am to 7pm, I know which ones I prefer.

Re: The flaw with crocs.....
Kate, My Ravel sandals felt very comfy in the shop...do you think shoe shops spray something into the air that makes us immune to the pain in our feet????? NO. Of course they don't, we women are fooled by the adrenaline rush and pleasure of the thought of new shoes.
Anyway these sandals are alright for a couple of hours on the hoof, but after that....forget it. I don't understand, they aren't high heels, the leather is soft.....but they always hurt after the said period of time. |

Re: The flaw with crocs.....
I had foot surgery many years ago and have never been able to wear high heels since.
I remember those days of pain wearing them, and often wonder why I bothered. They do make your legs look a better shape - but now I am not seeking to impress anybody  |
