In previous postings I have readily complained about the behaviour of young people in this' self first age '.The following link puts matters into perspective,we still have youngsters willing to give their all for others.

The fact is Lampman not all young people are the same, the lads and lasses who are giving so much whilst serving in war zones are testament to that.

Yes it's as you say Jaysay sometimes I forget that.
When I came across the site,I had a feeling of deja vu,many years ago I remember searching through old Accrington Observer files and I came across the weekly reports of WW1 casualties;page after page.Whilst nowhere near as numerous, the current list still has the power to move.
Let hope to a speedy improvement in the situation.

Seeing all the pictures listed like that certainly puts into perspective just how many lads and lasses have lost their lives out there. We hear so much negative stuff about the young of today that we tend to forget that there are good kids out there.

These young people are not just the run of mill young folk(and there are plenty of those who are good honest and true)...these are young patriots......they go into battlewith bravery and courage.

There is a lot of twaddle written in the media about 'stars'(meaning celebs) and their bravery and courage......the real stars are the young soldiers fighting, sometimes in conflicts that they wouldn't choose to fight in......conflicts that this government has decreed are in the interests of world safety.

These young people deserve to be remembered and honoured every single day.

what really made me angry was the BBC news tonight, apparently a law has been passed in Afghanistan, giving men the right to "RAPE" or "STARVE" their women if they will not consent to sex, n young soldiers from many nations are giving their lives n limbs, to civilise this lot.:mad: YEH RIGHT.. get em home now n stuff it.

I think when parliament reconvenes there should be a free vote by all MP's as to wether they think our troops should stay there. Those who vote yes should then be allowed to take the basic training allowed to some of those young people and then swap places with them.

Did you see the Panorama programme at eight last night? The way these women are treated is nothing short of barbaric, the Afghan men live in the dark ages. Be a very long time if ever before we see a decent civilisation over there:mad:

Coincidently I have been reading a book by Andy McNab"Seven Troop".In his memoirs he relates how during the Russians occupation of Afgahnistan the SAS helped train the Talibans predecesors,in military tactics;including ambush techniques.
All this apparently took place on an island off the coast of Scotland. The 'freedom fighters' were shown how to use the Stinger missle.
Worryingly McNab states that there are palettes of Stinger missiles still unaccounted for.
Biting the hand that feeds you comes to mind!
