Perhaps I have missed the point Jaysay, but having checks that went down from six months to every year, but are now to be more regular than that, I see only as a positive, especially for those people who aren't as obviously clued up as yourself.

Rindi your missing the point, it is only my assessment that has been put to yearly, I know an old gentleman who I see at the clinic on a regular basis, is on monthly assessments, they are there to match your own personal requirements, plus the act that I do see Professor Ormerod, my consultant every six months and my community matron more regularly, all bases are covered. My beef ain't with the medical care, which is excellent, but with the bureaucracy that shuts a newly refurbished state of the art Ward at Burnley General and replace it by a Ward that was mothballed because they ran out of money to revamp it, its just crazy

But before that you said they used to be every six months, and they've recently been changed, so that they will be more regular than annually?

I honestly can't see a major gripe with that, but don't doubt you that there is one. It's just that I fail to see it.

I think I need to lie down in a quiet ward now.

Wake me when it's visiting time.

I mean Blackburn Royal A&E. There were no doctors on site for a large time period, and just 1 the rest of the time. Its all pen pushers not doctors and nurses. The doctors and nurses are too stressed from all the needless administration that any extra ones this government claim we have are all off sick.

Talking of pen pushers and general admin. staff, it is still a fact that the health system in the US is more wasteful than either the NHS or the various Provincially run systems in Canada. And it provides a level of health care slightly worse than that in Costa Rica, and a helluva lot worse than the NHS. This is a point well worth noting when considering changes to the NHS; or, at least, when considering which way the NHS should be improved.

It concerns me that whenever anybody talks about reform of the NHS we get people comparing it with the US system. There are very few people that when they say reform, mean that we should scrap state healthcare and just have private provision and private insurance like the US system.

Though frighteningly Conservative M.E.P. Daniel Hannan, wants just that.

You mentioned there were 'very few people' who want to scrap the N.H.S.

I was just helpfully providing an example of one such person.

Conservative M.E.P. Daniel Hannan.
