Spotted Dick
Spotted Dick removed from council canteen menu
Pudding renamed Spotted Richard At least we don't have any members on Accyweb who would resort to getting cheap laughs from a pudding. |
Re: Spotted Dick

Re: Spotted Dick
of all teh things that need sorting out in teh world they came up with the idea of changing the name of a desert
just 1 more good idea like this and they may well accomplish world peace are the books dick turin going to be renamed in council libarys ? mind you i hear the recipe for spotted richard is less salty tasting than spotted dick |
Re: Spotted Dick
That is ridiculous! What an absurd thing to do. I'm sure no one would complain about the name of a pudding!

Re: Spotted Dick
I notice that this nonsense occured in Wales, which is only to be expected of that place. It is government policy there that all official literature - which includes canteen menus - are tranlated into the local venacular. The Welsh for Spotted Dick, is I believe, 'Spottio Dickio'. I do not know, however, what the translation of the new name will be. It will, as usual, cost money - which the boyos there won't mind, because it is the English taxpayer who will be forking it out.

Re: Spotted Dick
Well fancy; what are they going to do when someone goes and asks for a bowl of Richards...
I bet they won't go back for thirds....:o |
Re: Spotted Dick
I bet they get a lot going in there asking for "SPOTTED DICK PLEASE" loudly, making a point that it is named spotted dick. :D

hmm what if was called spotted fanny... would they change it to spotted frances.. sad

Re: Spotted Dick
A website similar to this one has an automatic censor. In a thread about Radio I mentioned Dick Barton Special Agent and it primly substituted **** Barton ...... If I'd mentioned Fanny By Gaslight I think it would have had a nervous breakdown. :D

Re: Spotted Dick
I remember seeing an episode of The Man Show where they interviewed people with unfotunate names ... I remember Jack Hoff, and Richard "Dick" Hertz. A little wander: anyone know what they are going to call Guy Gibson's black lab in the coming remake of "The Dam Busters"?

Re: Spotted Dick
We've had a thread about this before, Eric. They want to change historical fact for the sake of political correctness. ;)

Actually - it occurs to me that in a couple of years time someone else at that council will complain about the new name because it's still sexist. |
Re: Spotted Dick
It seems the jobsworth who thought this up in Wales did so because of smutty remarks when people were ordering their favourite pud, I appears that this irk though such people were childish and showing themselves up, where do they get these people from, there is one thing for sure the whole of Britain knows just what a Dick Head this prat really is, and no doubt he's on a salary which resembles a telephone number:mad:
