Pennine Lancashire City of Culture

It has been announced that 29 cities or areas have put themselves forward to be named City of Culture in 2013.

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | UK City of Culture list unveiled

I've been asked on BBC Radio Lancashire's breakfast programme tomorrow morning, as a cultural ambassador for the area, to discuss this and to discuss how important culture is in our lives.

Please listen in at 7am.

I think they do an online repeat. I'm not sure you'd have to check on BBC Radio Lancashire's website.

there was a thing on the news tonight about chorley perhaps being city of culture - which got me wondering - how can a town become a city of culture?

Re: Pennine Lancashire City of Culture

Well that was a bit of a flop.

I had to get up at silly o'clock for two minutes air time and I completely forgot the mention the Folk Festival and the Coppice Celebratory event.

Next time I'm asked to be on the breakfast show I think I may have a prior engagement - with my bed. :D

Although, I did get to meet Tony Livesey.

Retlaw.

He is scruff who appears on Granada TV newscasts.
I imagine he dresses even scruffier for his radio work.
He always looks unkempt and needing a shave.

PS that opinion is formed from the few times I have seen him on TV
...anyone else think the same?...or am I misjudging the man?

Gayle 11-09-2009 20:28

Re: Pennine Lancashire City of Culture

No, you're right Margaret - very scruffy.

MargaretR 11-09-2009 20:33

Re: Pennine Lancashire City of Culture

I got it wrong - not Granada - BBC NWest - same misinformation specialists
Glad to see that someone else thinks he's a scruff.

Oh so that him is it, I've seen him occasionally on bbc northwest, I don't know how he gets away with it, can't really stand listening to him, he has'nt got the voice for it. Can't see me going out of my way to meet him.
As for getting up at silly oclock just for that and 2 mins air time you must be bonkers.
