As far as I know there are no plans to stop the over 60's using the cards. However who knows what will happen if there is a change of government.

i think it is something to do with who supplies the card,, mines a WYRE card, and i can use it on trams and buses and the ferry,,i think cards supplied by Lancashire and Manchester may be different though i am not sure

There is a very strong feeling of those in the know that the government will be changed and with good reason.
Ring the transport authority where you intend to travel with your card and they will confirm or otherwise if your card is valid.

The now card can be used anywhere in England between 9.30am and 11pm weekdays and all day until 11pm on weekends. There are certain exceptions on express services and some park and ride schemes. Although I have used mine no park and ride in various cities in England. In most places outside Lancashire I have only had to show my card and have not been given a ticket.

I have used mine extensively in the South of England and never had a problem.

Why do you have to be 60 to get a NOW card?
I thought it was illegal to treat people differently because of their age

Re: now card

You can have a NOW card if you are disabled Neil.

You dont .. i have one .. and im not over 60 even though mick changed my age on my birthday ..:D Mine has an orange stripe down the side instead of a blue one meaning its a disabled nowcard rather than an over 60's pass.

By the way many years ago to get your bus pass women got theirs at 60 and fellas got theirs at 65 .. when it all kicked off years ago about sexism etc .. they made it that everyone got their bus pass at 60.

That is also prejudiced towards minorities and excludes the majority.
There is something very wrong about all this.
