Once again - the Lancashire Telegraph have got it wrong

The Lancashire Telegraph has got it wrong again. To anyone involved in organising the Battle of Britain event at Lock St - I NEVER claimed to have organised the event. I clearly said in the press release who had organised it and I DIDN'T try to claim credit for something that I was nothing to do with.

I'm mortified that they have made yet another mistake and I now have to chase around making sure everyone knows.

The text below is the information I sent to them on behalf of a friend

St Mary’s parish centre, Oswaldtwistle held a Battle of Britain party on Friday (18th Sept) to raise money for charity.

Brian Flynn was particularly instrumental in the success of the event by organising, songs, speeches and newsreels from the time, plus providing air raid sirens. Many people dressed up in period dress (see photo attached of Clive Yates and Gladys Kenyon).

The room was decorated with sand bags, flags, posters of the time, bunting, bombs through the wall, guns, camouflage netting and a DVD projected on to the walls of the Battle of Britain.

Some money raised will go towards the centre remaining open, the rest will go to a charity.

Your damn if you do and damn if you don't with the press Gayle, they are a law unto themselves and I'm sure their motto is why let the truth get in the way of a good story

I've just had an apology from the reporter at the Telegraph for the error. Also, they're going to print something tomorrow to clarify it.

I just hope the Observer hasn't done something similar!!!!!

Don't hold your breathe Gayle, but if the Telegraph didn't get it wrong in the first place they wouldn't need to apologies would they

Surely with the Telegraph we should aim to spot when they get it right, not when they get it wrong (which is now the norm). Some of you will be aware that there was a serious attack on a police constable last friday involving four delinquents, the youngest of whom - just 13 years old - hit the PC several times with a hammer. According to the Telegraph, this was all supposed to have occured in Clayton and was reported as thus.

It must have been a pretty nasty day all round for Lancashire's finest, because at exactly the same time as the the incident in Clayton, a PC in Church was also getting hit over the head with a hammer by a 13 year-old, accompanied by 3 mates. The eldest has been named in the Telegraph and his address as been published as in Accrington; It now gets stranger, because a person with the same name, living on a street with the same name, has been arrested and charged with the Church attack. Except this individual resides in Church.

Maybe this is a job for the X-files organisation.

The mainstream press are averse to telling truth, even when they are trying to:D
Why pay hard earned money for propaganda?
