This is Westender's daughter, Nik.

Sad news I'm afraid. I'm sure a lot of you knew about her health problems over the last couple of years and unfortunately my mum died on Wednesday afternoon.

It was very peaceful at the end - me, my sister and my nephew with with her and she just slipped away.

If anyone wants any more details please PM Westender and I'll get back to you.

Deepest condolences.

Although many on here never meet, we feel as though we're part of a family and it is extremely sad to hear news like this. She was always welcoming to newcomers, had lots of fascinating knowledge about the local area and had great wisdom. She will be missed on here.

Can't believe this Nik .. sooo absolutely sorry. Right to the end she had some wonderful posts and blogs showing how proud she was of you and all her family.

Just wondered if you had a 'photo of her so that we can put a name to the face to remember her by .. x

Thanks Nik .. 'course I meant a face to the name .. yer mum would have laughed at that, or pulled me up.

Always felt would have come across her at some time as she was my age group. x

I only knew her through here, I think. Her posts and comments were always well worth reading, so much common sense and invariably down to earth.

I am really saddened by this news. I felt that Cath was my kindred spirit.
I loved reading her blogs....she was eloquent and descriptive......I felt a part of the events that she wrote about.

Her posts too.....they were full of 'common sense'.

My sincere sympathies to you.
It has been said by other posters, but I feel it bears repeating....this forum will be poorer for the passing of this lovely lady.

I haven't been on much of late, so missed this sad and shocking news.

We exchanged many a message, where she displayed a sharp wit, and intelligence.
