Anyway, back to the card. Wouldn't mind so much if it were aimed at an adult, but I don't think was in good taste and glad that it was withdrawn. I mean, would you send this to a red-headed child ? Who would you buy it for ? |
Re: Is Ginger The New Black?
Is it not time that we started focussing on building the kids confidence instead of trying to protect them from what is after all just a bit of fun? Kids have and will always be teased about things, the secret is equipping them with enough self-worth so that they can cope with it IMHO.

I could explain gently was just teasing. Mmmm .. just don't think they would be amused somehow. This is not about friendly teasing ... is about pointing a difference in bodily make up to all others, which could incite bullying ... see that link that was put up on Facebook where people were encouraged to kick a red-head... and they did !! It is the word 'even' in that card which is offensive ... could put it another way and the caption could read "Despite your red hair, Santa still loves you". Another put down. A child would be completely bemused in the first place. Again, adults can take this, and not into heavy PC myself .. like the dumb blondes, greasy dark hairys ... mature enough to understand all this; a child is not. Yes, agree with Bernadette that confidence should be built up in our children (we do that anyway if we are good parents ...'cause we all think our kids are the best thing since sliced bread) ... but respect comes first for all human beings in my book. Re: Is Ginger The New Black?
that card isnt meant for kids anyway ... its one an adult would give to another adult ...not to a little kid ... by the way yes i would give the card ...
