I wonder if they have a speaker system in every unit, to shout 'Hi-de-hi' every morning, just to check whether you have survived the night.

They are nothing like holiday camps and you don't have to conform to anything. They are just housing complexes with the added benefit of entertainmemt, shops, hairdressers etc. If you choose to live an isolated life in them that is ok as well but to a lot of older people being able to have adult company is preferable to isolating theirselves. Quite often people are lonely in their homes for fear of going out, in a place like this safety issues can be forgotten and vulnerable people can socialise if they so choose.

Whilst i can see the benefits fer those who wish em, i also see the Obscene about em, what about those who would love to be in em, but its financially beyond em? things like this are fine fer the "I'm alright Jack" society, but not fer the less well off.

Unless they have a few good bars, a place where you can smoke your joint in peace, parking for my Harley, I ain't all that interested ... oh, and a nice, respectable whorehouse close by; one which has seniors' discounts and gives frequent flyer points:theband:

I'm not that interested in getting old; think I'll pass on it.:mosher:

They are very popular in Arizona, with whole complexes built on this idea, but all close to existing towns. They have everything, swimming pools, gymnasiums, golf courses and usually a couple of small stores. But of course these are in what they call the sun belt, very popular and well subscribed.
