That's the problem .... people shouldn't be allowed to park on the street when there is snow to be moved ... cars parked on the street here, between December 1st and March 31st., are towed to the impound. My street is as narrow as some of yours; so, there is no parking at any time. Maybe if you guys continue to get snowy winters, you will have to change your parking habits.

A very good point Eric, a lot of people over here have cars when they really don't need them. Yes I do know that for some people their own transport is vital but sorry there are far to many cars on the roads over here

I heard that a lot of the snow ploughs can't be used now due to all the speed bumps

hmmm great planning there eh!!!

And Andrew, I work in Blackburn :( and what a nightmare it has been... gritters out for first time today when the temps are too slow for the grit to actually be effective!!

my snow plough is actually human ... and called spuggie ...

when we came home on sunday the snow pretty deep .. so monday when he went off for the day i swept a path out and chucked some salt on it .. cos tuesday was bin day then tuesday .. cleared it off again after some of the snow fell just in case the bin wagon turned up .. and gave up when it started snowing again .. anyway today spugs cleared a pathway up the driveway again and round the back of the house. Now he has done a very good job .. its still clear ..and the ice is melting ..so if anyone wants to borrow him ... it'll cost £25 an hour ... and a couple of brews coffee with 2 sugars and steri milk .. and he'd be available for tomorrow morning .. seeing as when we went up hassy today we got some wood cat litter to throw on the path he dug out ... as salt is a very very precious commodity .. and no where in hassy can you get any!!!

Could do with him down here Shill ... couldn't get me car off the drive .. only a little bit of snow/ice but enough to make the rubber burn, and couldn't find me shovel either. Thought sod it, so just walked up to the local shops.

Did you hear about the guys (or gals) in Glasgow who pulled up with a wagon and pinched one of those big yellow 300lb salt bins ?? Seems to have prompted a new crime. Will they be going around to households selling it at 'silly figure' a bucket ? :eek:

lol have you ever visitied england or if so have you lost your memory on how most of englands housing is terraced and diosnt have a garden yet alone a drive to put your car on pmsl

speed bumps are aslo mking cars get stuck due to them been slippy and not enough speed been gained to get over them due to there been no standard size for them and over enthusiastic councils making speedbumps that would make mount everst feel inaiquate

Mmmm ... if folks don't have a place to park a vehicle, maybe they shouldn't have one:rolleyes:;) With all those cars parked on the street, how do emergency vehicles get around:confused:

I would think fire trucks especially ... and I assume your trucks are as big as ours .... I suppose there are fire lanes where parking is forbidden, and that parking next to a fire hydrant is illegal, and carries a large fine.

Fire lanes, we don't have of them.The emergency services in this Country are just use to having to maneuver around streets full of cars.
