We have and never will forget what these young men did for us. Many died in futile folly but did their duty and as such should be remembered for their sacrafice.

Soldiers Died in the Great War records 1199 deaths on that day in July 1916.
So far I haven't found any local men who were in that battle, though there were some men from Blackburn and Burnley killed on July 19th 1916.
