This could be an interesting development
just reading the tea-leaves but wonder what the response will be if Iran manages later this week to test an A Bomb ..... ;)
Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution. "The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned," Khamenei, who is also Iran's commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel. Hope to hell it aint an A Bomb test!!! If it is then we will end up with a new arms race that we cannot afford nor have any desire to become involved in. Once they have this kind of weapon it will spread like creeping ivy and push us further towards destruction. The response required if they did possess and test such a device will drive a larger wedge between the western powers and more moderate regimes in the area and to be honest frightens the life out of me.

True, but I think Israel would not be too happy about a local country having the A bomb. I always wondered if they would wipe Iran off the face of the earth, maybe they will. if so god help us all

Still think that the big news from Iran will have nothing to do with their nuclear program, but will have a lot to do with the popular anti-government movement. And I do believe that the reactionary clerics will lose out to the secularists and the moderates. |

Re: This could be an interesting development
Iran has never been the most stable of countries but the situation wasn't helped by George W Bush poking it with a big stick during his last days in office. That man was hell bent on finishing daddy's job by waging war on everyone that was better left alone, all for the sake of oil supplies.
Fortunately, America now seems to have someone at the helm with a bit of common sense but they're going to have to wait a long time before the rest of the world forgets the Bush legacy. |
