BBC News at Ten..Tiger Woods

First item on the BBC news tonight was Tiger Woods appology...this bloke plays golf.. he's not someone who can declare war, not someone who has any inlfuence on the economy of this country.. he has no power of making decisions that can make or break the lives of millions.. all this celebrity stuff has got out of hand.:(

He has two things going for him from a BBC point of view though...he's Rich and he's Black!!...Not that they have a bias of course!

Tiger's sponsors are going to be very supportive too....there's a surprise! Max Clifford thinks he's now done the right thing!

Wonder how his wife and kids feel!

Best Regards - Taggy

I don't give a toss about Woods sponsers wether he is black or white means nothing.. he is first on the news because he is a celeb and it could have been Katie Price or Cheryl Cole..etc.. the BBC have got themselves involved with all this celeb malarkey which maybe of interest to those who choose to read glossy mags.. but are not the main concerns of the public in general.

I am pointing out that the BBC news devoted the first 5 mins to a celebrity item.. not interested in what Woods was saying or doing.

The BBC always has its own agenda...when was the last time that it was bothered about the concerns of the General Public??

The cult of personality gazing is promoted to divert the attention of the masses away from the real news which is not reported.

If you watch enough junk, you think junk is all that is happening.

I think the BBC reports on current affairs that really matter have been good.. but this shift of reporting on a celebrity making an apology as the first news item is downgrading.. if they are going down that road then they are no better than Sky or ITV.

maybe in times of war some reports are designed and waver towards propaganda.. but I don't believe that most news on the BBC is manipulated..the BBC is still respected as a good source for reasoned and accurate news.. but to stick in news about about sportsmen as the main item is not on.. even if it my be of most interest to the "other people" that ride standard class on the trains

Taggy 19-02-2010 22:21

Re: BBC News at Ten..Tiger Woods

I think the BBC has started to manipulate the news in order to throw light onto certain issues that influencial people in that organisation have interests in...climate change being one!!

Perhaps some people may think its gone a touch " down market" in its coverage of certain celebrities. I certainly dont think this "event" should have been given the prominence that it has....given that it was totally stage managed to suit the person concerned! If his only interest was in the wellbeing and concerns of his family....then TV was not the place to express it. This was a pure Google Page Ranking stunt for self interest.

He certainly has a lot to apologise for...but not to us!....And on the subject of apologies...i dont see too many of those "slappers" he went with saying sorry for their behaviour!...But then again...they aint lost owt have they!

Best Regards - Taggy

Totally agree with original poster , couple of nights ago the lead item on BBC America World News was the suicide of the fashion designer chap , followed by a report of the Nato troop fighting in Afghanistan , followed by the Greek currency problems ..... seems the BBC needs to look at its priorities , also needs to get rid of all these accents as well

Oh hes certainly correct, but to ignore all the important items like "Tiger" Jordan, n the "Fashion Geezer" would offend all the cretins............. that would never do.

Have you got that one right cashy, his apology was about as sincere as a wet weekend in Brighton, who actually gives a stuff who he's bumping uglies with, he's just sorry he's got caught and made a Prescottian style statement to the chosen few to save face and loads of money from his sponsors :(

Last week, we had a lovely story as top billing on ITN about David Beckham growing a beard and they wonder why the country doesn't respect their news as much as BBC.

Even so, the Tiger Woods item was badly misplaced for a BBC report and I'm quite surprised by that.
