Examples can be pulled from various sources regarding various Politicians & their parties blatantly lying about one thing or another. This is bad enough in a peace time setting, whether it be jobs, commerce the economy, they all have a knack of avoiding or twisting the truth & the facts to suit their purposes.

But when it has a direct effect on our service personnel, who've been sent off at the behest of the Government to "Defend our liberty". there is no way these lies can be tolerated as it bears a direct effect on the troops morale, safety & well being. They're risking their lives daily & as such should be given everything they need, not half the story !

These Men & Women are doing what is asked of them whether they agree with it or not, they at least are being true & honest to their creed, unlike the cowards who sent them !

Do you know Dave? I'd agree with all of the above, except, we still have lads and lasses volunteering to join the forces.

Is this because they have some sort of patriotic feeling? No other job available? Like the idea of adventure & what the Hell? We only live once!

I wanted to learn about electronics - in the early '60s it was a Catch 22 situation at Phillips and Mullards, so I joined the RAF, learnt my electronics but also found that I enjoyed the life, even the Brush Fire situations - enjoyed it so much that I took the Queen's Shilling 3 times. Yes, our equipment was crap even in those days - 1964 and we had Enfield Rifles and Sten Guns when they were supposed to have been replaced. No jungle boots for us unless we bought them - strange that my lad also had to buy gear, before he went to the Falklands.
So both parties are just as bad in providing for the troops and I don't suppose it will ever change.

I think it's a bit of everything Less, I still work with the Military & you talk with the "Kids", some because it seems like an adventure, others because they feel the have no other options & yes there are still one or two Patriotic souls who want to defend the British way of life, for what that's worth nowadays.

The worst thing about it all though is I feel like their Dad/Uncle, I would never tell them to stay away from the Forces I would actively encourage some of these kids to give it a go. I do think it will make them better people, but also sadly in these present times possibly crippled, maimed or just a memory of a loved one taken far to early from life.

What else could we expect? After all, unelected to the position, he inherited the mantle from the biggest liar in political history - Blair. Need I say more.
