Teachers Gifts
Theres a piece on the bbc website about parents and kids giving their teachers gifts .. ok a card or bottle of wine or flowers or chocolates thats ok .. but tickets for Test cricket or tickets for the opera isnt that going a bit over the top.
BBC News - Teacher presents 'competitive', says union I cant remember ever once giving presents to my teachers .. i might have done but cant remember going into school with a bottle of wine or choccies .. ok the teachers may not have got contents they might have got the bottle .. empty or an empty box of choccies :D:D:D if i'd have been taking them into school in my teenage years .. So what do you think ... teachers getting gifts like a bottle of wine or box of choccies ok .. or do you think tickets for the test cricket a bit too much or should teachers not get anything at all. After all they are doing their job .. and getting paid for it .. so why should their pupils bring them a box of choccies to say thank you .. |

Re: Teachers Gifts
Some teachers i guess go the extra mile and give support and encouragement.I will be buying my lectures presents at the end of term, just to show my personal appreciation I did the same when i was at school.

Presents for teachers??...strictly for swots and softy Walters!

Re: Teachers Gifts
Feel fairly confident that the teachers themselves are not expecting anything and probably embarrassed by some of these gifts you mention Shill. Think they would more appreciate a letter or card thanking them for adding to Little Johnnie's education, etc.

Re: Teachers Gifts
It,s not the kids who send the pressies, it,s the parents who want special attention for their kids. I can imagine the gift I might have got to take back in the 50s- a note from my dad saying "If he gets cheeky, give him a smack round the earhole".

Re: Teachers Gifts
The teachers always used to present my parents with gifts galore, at the end of a school year.
To thank them for allowing them to teach me. :D |

In a word "Irredeemable" but funny :s_aim1::s_aim1: Some of them should be getting sacked, let alone Pressies. |

Re: Teachers Gifts
This practice stinks of bribery.
It is not permissable for frontline civil servants to accept gifts, so teachers shouldn't either. |
