What Exactly Is A Saving?
Just watched a http://www.michelin.co.uk/michelinuk...goMichelin.jpg advert on the box, their latest tyres can save us up to 80 litres against the horrible petrol pump.
What they don't say, (unless it's in that minuscule writing used by Companies as a get out clause), is over how long. If it's saving us that much between fill up's that is fantastic. If it's over the lifetime of the tyres, I wouldn't have thought it worth mentioning. I've looked on their site but can't find an explanation, do any of you know what figures they are using to be able to claim what to me seems a vague figure? Michelin - Michelin Energy Saver |
Re: What Exactly Is A Saving?
considering life of a tyre is anywhere from 25K to 40K and if we say the average saloon does 40mpg now you are looking at approx 18 gallons saving over a life of 1000 gallons or < 2%.
you can probably save more by checking the pressures weekly and taking all the crap out the boot. |

It still doesn't answer the question about it being over a tank full or the life of the tyres though, or does it? :) |
