It's Stopped

So how many of you know that the volcano had stopped pumping ash out. Sunday 23 May was the first day without ash.
It may only be resting though.

AccuWeather.com - Weather News | Icelandic volcano showing reduced activity
Volcanic experts out of London's Met Office reported on Sunday that Eyjafjallajokull could continue to erupt, and at a higher intensity in coming days. Eruptions have been erratic, and there is much uncertainty as to how long the decreased activity will last

I have been looking at the webcams daily, there is a distinctive eerie look in the last 2 days. Just a little steam and as I said it may only be resting. I will be looking at various webcams for signs and the Iceland met office for earthquakes etc.

Perhaps I am sad or the chemicals have rotted my brain. Or it could just be that the earths natural forces are interesting.:tongueout

Re: It's Stopped

For anyone flying abroad in the near future i've just read that Aviva Insurance are introducing an "add on" to there normal travel insurance which will cover people for cancellations/delays etc caused by the Volcanic ash problem. Its coming in on June 1st apparently.

Dont know how much the add on is yet, but ive just tried a sample online quote for their standard travel insurance for 2 weeks in europe and it comes out at £33 for one person, which is pretty expensive, bearing in mind my online annual multi-trip policy only cost me £17.

I'm not sure how many other companies guarantee to cover this problem, and what the premiums are like, but it could be worth it for peace of mind for those people who book DIY trips.

Oh dear - that volcano's big brother, Katla, is stirring into activity
Stark forecast as Iceland's larger volcano shows increased sign of life > International News > News | Click Green

....just when you thought it was time to book your trip abroad - think again

PS -on second thoughts, if it happens, you might not want to come back
