Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
Lancashire 'two weeks' from hosepipe ban (From Lancashire Telegraph)
When I saw this in the LT I thought it was a leg pull:rolleyes: |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
We live on an island surrounded by more water than it is possible for you to imagine yet we're being told to conserve it while the directors cream off salaries of in excess of £300k with bonuses for efficiency.
You've got to feel sorry for them really, haven't you? |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
Ever since the snow stopped falling, there has been very little rain this year.
The ground is tinder dry. |

lol just washed teh car and read this
soz to anyone dying of dehydration edit: hang on if theres a hospe pipe ban it only seems fair that those companies filling up bottles of water from the tap and selling them as spring water be told to stop production if things are that bad |

Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
they have propably sent all our water down south like the usualy do when theres a spot of sunshine
|
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
We seem to have plenty of the wet stuff. Maybe if the water companies fixed leaks instead of lining their pockets and wallets there would be no problem. I would start worrying when the Lake district and the money made in bonuses by water company bosses coincide.

Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
Just when we had rain now this morning im without water again, maybe the reseviors are draining cos UU cannot take care of their pipes, another burst main this morning - yet when i rung to report the automated machine was waffling on about the hosepipe ban and conserving water............UU take your own advice, its not the consumers thats wasting it its you.

Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden

He should also make sure Stella gets no more than four inches in the bathroom. Supplying her with a ruler should help. |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden

I'd forget having spuds until the water's back on. You might be better having a savoury rice. ;) :D (Hope they sort it for you soon.) |

Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
Water ban in place from friday confirmed. Me im fuming with UU telling us sob stories on it being dry and conserving our usage, certainly as our household has been victim to cuts in supply due to burst water mains 5 times this year so far, so begs the question which Uu wouldn't answer on the news skirting around it, as to how much has uu lost thro its faulty or bad pipe system?? Yet the customers suffer and i sure bet we wont get reduction in our bills either!

Liverpool Daily Post - News - Liverpool News - United Utilities bans hosepipes in Merseyside – despite leaking 460m litres of water every day Write to him. He might have enough of his bonus left to send you a crate of bottled water. |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
I live (mostly) in a third world country with less rain than the UK and yet we don't have any bans on water.
The internet going down, well that is another story..... |

Could not agree more Cashy, I can understand privatization of companies that can have competition, the Electric, Gas and Telephone companies, but why they ever did Water is beyond me. Its not as if you can get piped water from anyone else.

Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
I am not trying to influence anybody in any way here, but, if you have a water metre, then you pay for all use of water, therefore you would expect that they should supply it by any means necessary, how could they charge you for every drip, and then have you fined for using a hose pipe when you would be paying (up front in most cases) for the water used... Is like going to the garage, filling your car, getting a burst tank, and being fined for wasting the petrol? Only in this country!!

Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden

Maybe population... just quick googles tell me that the North West has approx. 7,000,000 people to 14,000 square miles. Southern Spain 8,000,000 to 33,000 square miles. They drink bottled water and don't have as many brews ? .. :D It does seem to go off more though. |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
The hosepipe ban starts tomorrow, Friday.
Will any single people please list their names here, and I'll try and pair you up for the sharing a bath scheme. |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
Draining two rather large reservoirs and building on them can't have helped.
Maybe creating a shortage is the easiest way of hiking up the price.:confused: |
Re: Water Water everywhere but not on your garden
It might help if we didn't sell so much of our water to the south and United Utilities listened to people who phone up complaining about leaks.
There's been one in Rishton off Spring Street for about a year which I know has been reported on several occasions and yet there it is, still flowing daily. |

I do not subscribe to -
'I'll scrub your back if you'll scrub mine' Self sufficiency is my scene - a loofah on a rope is a better solution. |
