Re: Where ....
I once witnessed a helicopter land on Heys field.
Then taxis and cars arrived with people who were dressed in wedding attire. The bride and groom got out of a limo and dashed across the slutchy grass. The bride was struggling to keep her veil on in the downdraught from the rotor blades and was a dishevilled mess by the time she boarded. I found the whole sight hilarious and wonder if on reflection the bride wished she hadn't thought this charade up. I relay this event as a possible reason for a yellow helicopter. Some people have more money than sense |
Re: Where ....
It was air ambulance and it landed in Woodnook, 2 idiots on a quad bike had an argument with a lamp post then a house and as far as I am aware a couple and a 9 month old..........2 males gone to hospital and I think the couple and the child are all ok..not sure yet but there's loads of cops and ambulances hanging around, will update as I find out more........just been told the 2 men are very poorly.

Re: Where ....
I know the mum of the kids, eldest has lost several teeth and is covered in cuts and bruises, youngest has thankfully survived with just a cut head thanks to her pram, have been told that the driver of said quad bike has died. Bike allegedly mounted pavement.

Re: Where ....
Those quad bikes are menace. They visit Heys field sometimes.
Sad that one young chap has died - oh the folly of youth means he won't ever grow up. |
Re: Where ....
Was it a yellow quad bike ? Apparently was driving like loonies on our street earlier this afternoon my daughter says. These idiots have been riding about up here driving us mad for past few weeks.

Re: Where ....
Saw a quad bike going down hollins lane about half 3 this afternoon. 2 asian lads were riding it with no helmets. I actually knew the person who was driving it, hope its not the same one but too much of a coincidence i think

The air ambulance was about 4pm so it may be the same ones. |
Re: Where ....
It was about 4 when I heard air ambulance, so I think that it's likely to be the same lads, though let's be honest this could have been a big tragedy, my friends kids are thankfully not seriously hurt. If others are daft enough to ride dangerous vehicles recklessly and put innocent lives at risk I have little sympathy.

Re: Where ....
May have been same 1 the incident involved 2 asian riders and it happened on Clement St

Quad Bike accident?
There was all sorts of police activity round woodnook today. So much so that I thought it was a copy cat Moat or something. According to a passer by some young lads lost control of a quad bike on Clement street and hit some people sat outside their house. The police closed off the surrounding streets and a chopper landed on nuttall street. Soon after it all cleared up there was another pillock on a quad driving in a wreckless manner on Royds street. I get the feeling this is going to be a new menace on the streets since these road legal quads are becoming popular.

Re: Where ....
I hope your nieces are ok Emma, and would prefer that nobody actually died, but learnt a valuable lesson, I cant help thinking that had they been reported to the police earlier, all this could have been avoided, seems we have learned a lesson too about doing our duty and reporting to the police when people drive any vehicle in this manner.

Re: Where ....
All well & good Degsy & I fully agree with you, but how many times have people reported stuff & Plod hasn't bothered to chase it up, unless someone's been killed ? Unfortunately saying "Morning Mr Plod, two Asian/White Idiots are tearing up & down the street on a Quad & they may well end up hurting/killing someone !" doesn't really seem to bother them or am I wrong on this ?
If they've killed themselves I've no sympathy for them they've brought it on themselves, sadly it's the innocents in all this who are the true victims & it is they I feel empathy for, it wasn't their fault but they have to bear the suffering, wrong on so many levels. |
Re: Where ....
It appears the journalists at the Telegraph don't work weekends can't find a thing on their wed site

Re: Where ....
Thanks Derekgas they are all fine considering the eldest was hit right in the face with the quad knock 3 teeth clean out she's had them stitched back in, middle 1 has a broken arm and a few bruises the baby has a small cut on her thanks to her pram which took the brunt of it it's now smashed to bits so she's very lucky, thankfully it's the idiots driving it that are the worst in all this

Re: Where ....
Just had a Police leaflet through the door concerning this accident. They are looking for any witnesses who saw the two men on the quad bike in the area of Augusta/Clement Street and surrounding areas in the lead up to the accident. The letter states that,
'The (quad) bike collided with as lamp post on Clement Street and also hit four pedestrians who were stood nearby. The for pedestrians, a 25 year old woman, her 10 month old baby, an 8 year old girl and an 18 year old woman were all taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment but have since been discharged. The two riders of the quad bike aged 30 and 34 are currentrly in Royal Preston Hospital where they remain in critical condition.' The number they give for people to call is 08451 25 35 45 or 01254 51212. So now you have the facts as the police have printed them. |
