Yep, just noticed the article myself. Hurrah! About time. Just a pity my son and all the others, cant get their money back! Just hope all the folk who set off to Blackpool, for a good night out, when Robbie opens the Illuminations, dont get caught out!

In other words, what you lot are saying is that while it is totally unacceptable for Gypo's to go and park up on public land, you have the right to go and park up on private land. Whats more, you are now saying that attempts by respectable citizens to deter such trespass will be made illegal. Is this correct? Whatever happened to land rights and an Englishman's home being his castle? No wonder the country has gone to pot.

Re: About Time

No we are not saying that at all. Read the notes! The rogues are clamping when people are not even AWARE its private land, cos there are no signs to say so! (or the signs are so well placed i.e. out of sight, that no one sees them).

Rubbish. If the land is not yours then it must be someone elses, right? So why do they have to go to the trouble and expense of sticking signs up saying 'No Parking'. If you are a motorist you have the right to park on your property, to park on the road and to park on other approved and indicated private or public places. The rule is quite simple - if there is not a sign saying 'Car Park' or 'Parking Allowed' then don't park there. You do not have the right to go and park on any old piece of land which takes your fancy. That is trespass and as such any landowner is - or was - entitled to take reasonable steps to prevent this. But not any more. It looks like the Tories are soft on crime and soft on the causes of crime.

[Rubbish. If the land is not yours then it must be someone elses, right?]

The idea is to trick people into thinking they are on public land, which is clearly very shady behaviour. Are you honestly saying that you have never parked anywhere other than under an authorised car parking sign? Even a perfectly ordinary looking street can be private land.

Does't matter who's land it is, these sharks are known to put no paring signs where people have a job to see them, then wait round the corner to clamp some unsuspecting sod , then charge an extortionate amount of money to unclamp their car, even disable people fall foul of these obvious cretins

Re: About Time

Yeah plus the amounts they are charging are far higher than most criminals would be fined. It is indeed about time they were stopped.

Don't think that as ever been in question Neil, its the the cowboys that are fleecing people that need to be stopped

Re: About Time

Thank you Neil...no one has the right to dump half a ton of metal on someone else's land - irrespective for how long - and then believe that they are somehow immune from any penalties. If you don't know whose land it is, then don't park there. Simple.

I am sick and tired of reading whingeing posts from various motorists on here. One of their biggest bugbears - other than parking - is that of speed cameras and the claim that this technology has nowt to do with road safety but has everything to do with revenue raising.

Now we hear that various county authorities are going to withdraw speed cameras because they are to expensive to run. So much for making money. But what will now happen alot more people will be killed on the roads - obviously, including alot more kids. Now, I don't know how many kids were killed by paedophiles last year, but one thing is for sure - it's nowhere near the numbers killed by speeding motorists. So as far as I am concerned, the motorist who complains about the speed limit and about speed cameras is no different than the paedo who keeps kiddy porn on his computer. They may think they're doing no harm, but at the end of the day, kids - and others get hurt and they die.
