Independant on line
Oh how embarassing - my photo is in the online Independant newspaper.
I read an article about Al Fayed burning the royal warrants before he left Harrods. I am a republican and thought 'good on him' and clicked a 'thumbs up' sign, and it has landed me with a small entry and my pic. It wasn't on Facebook even though they say it was- it was was of those on line poll type of thingies on the newspaper site. Well I've learnt my lesson - they won't get another vote from me. What puzzles me is how they linked that with my Facebook page |

your name perhaps?

Re: Independant on line
Lol, funny.
Though I'd hardly give Fayed the thumbs up, for being a republican hero. He was a toadying, sycophant to most of the royals. Who only had temper tantrums when he didn't get what he thought was his just rewards for regal ass kissing, British citizenship. |
Re: Independant on line
Spot on Rindy...with him it was anything to make money. He didn't display those royal warrants because he was proud to have served the Royal Family, but because it brough in the money laden Yanks....and others.

Re: Independant on line
Harrods had the Royal Warrant before Fayad bought it.
(His name isn't Al-Fayed. The 'Al' was added by himself, as an act of desperate self-aggrandizment.) The company I worked for, for many years, didn't have any Royal Warrants. Though our main competitor, Turnbull & Asser, did. Turnbull & Asser was owned by Fayed's brother Ali, and was part of the Harrods group. The firm I was creative director at is still family owned by it's founders. Guess where the Royals came, when they wanted some new togs? |
Re: Independant on line
ooh Margaret they might send you a great big Xmas Hamper full of Harrods goodies,,,lol,,:130:

Incidentally I clicked on my name on the Independant page and it linked to my Facebook page. I do have privacy settings and only 'family' as friends. Please reassure me that you can't everything - eg photos and 'wall to wall' |

I am amazed that my pic was still on the site after 5 days, so I have changed my Facebook profile pic.
...and lo and behold the pic on the Independant site has changed too, instantaneously! ...I now am a 'native peoples' mythological symbol :D |
