Honestly!!!!
I cant believe this .. a school in north yorkshire has had to cut back on playtime .. and stagger the rest of the playtimes .. because some neighbours of the school have complained about excessive noise ... and now the council are checking it out .. and the school is worried about a noise abatement order ..
BBC News - Selby school cancels outside break in row over noise Surely if you buy a house near a school you will expect noise at playtimes dinnertimes and going and leaving school times .. you dont expect quiet do you .... The school has forked out for a soundproofing fence but they still complained .. money that could probably be better spent elsewhere... |

In my youth, when Caesar held Londinium, I went to a school at the end of a row of terrace houses. We played football in the yard. School Rule was :- If you kicked the ball out of the grounds into the next door garden you took your chances on the benevolence of the neighbour and you assessed the risk on a daily basis. Good mood - you got your ball back Bad mood - he complained and you got detention/whacked or you just didnt bother about getting the ball. Then again in those days we didnt have the internet, sensationalising non-stories for bleeding heart socialists. Those self same bleeding heart socialists who said:- corporal punishment is wrong, its child abuse! You sow what you reap! |
Re: Honestly!!!!
Kids make noise!.. sometimes it can be one of the joys of life to hear children enjoying themselves..I'd be more worried if a school playground was silent.. is this part of the cuts?

Re: Honestly!!!!
Looks like it is a case of going all Victorian where kids should be seen not heard. But does stopping them having fun at playtime not ignore their human rights to be kids and play. Besides it is exercise which some complain kids do not get enough of?

Re: Honestly!!!!
How many times do we hear of people complaining about one thing or another - when the source of their complaint was there long before they moved into the area?

Re: Honestly!!!!
Of course as us historians know It's all down to Evolution,Let me try and explain.
In the beginning,God who was a Lancastrian gave us the Pennines to separate us from the Yorkies. All was going well till the middle of the 15th century when the Yorkies got a bit stroppy and decided to have a dig at the chosen race. This were it gets interesting,We had evolved the Tudor Rose thanks to Henry V11th but all the Yorkies had evolved was big lug-holes. The scene was set for the battle of Bosworth 22nd Aug 1485. All we had to do was sneak up quietly using our Tudor Roses to sniff out the Richard the thirds.Job done - Simples. Happily we are now all friends thanks to a trade off of recipes,They got our Hot-Pot and we got the puddings(I think an ancestor of Arthur Scargill was on their negotiating committee) Certainly got the best deal. The point is they have retained the big flappers so they can still hear what is going on over here and as usual are blaming the children God.:hehetable:hidewall::hidewall::hidewall: |
Re: Honestly!!!!
I live near a primary school and I like the sound of children playing.
It is when they become drink sodden screaming teens that they become objectionable |
