Anybody else had a job like this

BBC News - BBC deputy director general Mark Byford to leave

Bet this chap is really upset at being made redundant, you have to feel sorry for the poor chap

Although I do feel sorry for someone who is made redundant after such a long career with the same firm. the best part of a million quid is being given to him simply to leave and he won't be out of work for long.

The BBC badly needed a wake-up call to slim itself down and I welcome the cuts that are being made, particularly in the management, internet and BBC People and Asian Network. It has become flabby and too driven to sell programmes to America with lots of little departments that serve a fractional audience instead of concentrating on what it is there to do.

The Reith Charter from 1922 contains the best three words that any broadcaster ever needs to adhere to: Educate, Entertain, Inform. This country would be a poorer place without it so I would never ever advocate going down the route of abolishing the licence fee (see American television if you want to know why) and these cuts are long overdue in order to help the mighty Corporation survive.

I have no problem people being given a severance bonus for many years service Ken but close on £1 million is ridiculous. I actually saw the closing titles to the Commonwealth games at 5-55pm the list of credits of the people involve in presenting these games was, well in my eyes mind blowing, it took close on 5 minutes to roll off, just wondering how many people actually watched these games, I for one didn't, just an odd few minutes here and there:mad:
