BBC News - Italian seaside town planning miniskirt ban

A seaside city in Italy is planning to ban miniskirts and other revealing clothing to improve what the mayor calls standards of public decency.

That means a tough new dress code which would effectively outlaw everything from miniskirts to low-cut jeans when people walk around Castellammare di Stabia, our correspondent adds.
Mr Bobbio, from the centre-right People of Freedom party, says he wants to target people who are "rowdy, unruly or simply badly behaved".
There will also be a ban on sunbathing, playing football in public places, and blasphemy, if the proposals are approved at a council meeting on Monday.

how can wearing a mini skirt or low cut jeans be badly behaved ...

Perhaps Accrington should declare it's self a textile free, naturist paradise.

(Though I would now go to Blackburn to do my shopping, once the clothes free ban comes into force.)

Could be worse though as in Spain they want certain ladies in a certain proffesion to wear a high vis vest. Maybe the Mayor is worried there might be a rise..... in skin cancer.

In a hot climate it is healthier to 'go commando' ;) - which could be the reason why mini skirts would be indecent.

I didn't know what 'going commando' meant until-
It was a very hot day and thinking no-one would notice I decided to manage without underpants and just wear slacks and shirt. A friend said 'I didn't know you liked going commando'.' I don't,' I said, 'I just like browns and kharki'.He laughed that much he couldn't explain for ages, by which time everyone else had checked me out. I suffer the heat now!
