No, it leads onto winter and I haven't got over the wet Summer with the hose pipe ban.

The photographs are beautiful, but I'm with you.

I really dislike autumn.

If the year's a life cycle, this is the time we are sat in an old folks home, awaiting...

On a cheerier note, roll on the first green shoots of new life, in spring.

:)

Good pic's :D

I dont dislike any season, like it when spring starts as it means summer!! (if we are lucky enough to get one!!) and like Autumn as it means a fresh change and cozy nights in!!

Last summer, (up untill the hose pipe ban), the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that...

Do you see a pattern emerging or shall I continue? Hmm yes, bit slow on the uptake aren't you? I'll continue...

the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that, the summer before that.

I may only have a backyard but there is always something growing in it, even if it's only mould on the socks that are taking 3 weeks to dry due to our wonderful Summers.

What lovely pictures, bring back memories.I don't remember the lodge being so heavily wooded.I don't remember it being called Hagg Lodge either! When did it get that name? I spent all my young life living opposite it and never knew it as that. In looking up the name I found an old thread(2005) about what has happened to Milnshaw and Gatty parks-how sad, Milnshaw in particular was beautiful when I was a boy, paddled in those ponds and played cowboys and indians in the Lodge wood many times.
I remember firing marbles using a firework in a bicycle pump across the Hyndburn to see it splash in the lodge!

Where katex is concerned, I always have and always will bite the bait, there is something about her little nagging ways that remind me of my ex, perhaps it's her neck size? I'm sure it would fit easily between my fingers and applied a little pressure! (Only joking Kate I find you irrisitable, and would apply a great deal of pressure).

Eeew .. isn't that some sort of sex game ?.. :D

I merely asked why the hose pipe bothered you so deeply, seeing as you never used one. Besides ... no great hardship to anyone really .. not essential to our daily living ... might have reason to grumble if they hadn't imposed it and affected your monthly bath.:)

Anyway, I love Autumn too and your pictures, Atarah; in fact all our seasons. Wouldn't live in a hot country with their dusty roads and very little colour and extra insect life.

Re: Dont you just love Autumn

I do love autumn actually.

It signifies the end of very long days landscaping and the start of finishing work at 5pm. Standing by the fire with a pint of ale at the end of a chilly day, hot pans of soup on the stove, Christmas not far away....

It's a bit damp outside but it makes you appreciate being inside all the more.

Autumn is a wonderful time if you want to see colour......You don't need to go to New England(but that didn't stop me wanting to).....but from a practical sense I hate the Autumn.......from September I can feel the gnaw of the shorter days.......I get carb cravings and want to do nothing much other than sleep, I get prickly and bad tempered........I am convinced that I was a bear in a previous existence.

The lack of daylight affects me.
Roll on March.

I agree entirely.

Well except for the gloomy moods.

I remain as sunny, jolly, and carefree, as I do throughout the other seasons of the year.

By the way, don't ever move to Scotland.

I was forever being called by staff, saying they weren't coming in because of SAD.

Hello!

Winter days being three hours, seven minutes long, are the price you pay for having twenty hours of daylight in June.

:D

Hate it...hate the dark, hate the cold, hate the damp, hate the masses of soggy leaves under your feet, hate everything about it.

Give me 90 degrees in the shade, a cold beer in my hand and a blue sparkling sea...all year round.

Nice pics though.

Good point re: the leaves underfoot.

They might be prettily coloured, but many of 'em cover a nice, squashy, freshly deposited, dog's egg.

Yes I do love fall ... best time of the year .... feet up in front of my fire, hockey on tv every nite. I know winter is close; we have already had some flurries, and a nasty snow squall last weekend. But, bring it on; don't suffer through winter ... put on skates, snow shoes, cross country skis and get out and enjoy it.:dancedog:

Put on skates, snow shoes and cross country skis. It's good job you're brought up in Clayton Eric, and all that practicing getting up Whalley Rd in foot of snow.

Mmm do you suffer from SAD = Seasonal Affective Disorder!

It's quieter in the Autumn and Winter - less kids out shouting in the streets, less noise from cars, sleep better and longer - surely if you were a bear in previous life you'd love autumn/winter as it would mean you'd be able to hybernate and chillout! :dancedog:

Yes, I do have seasonal affective disorder.......and though I have this, I don't actually get depressed, just tired, lethargic and hungry.

When I say I was a bear in a previous existence...what I mean by that is......I need to hibernate to miss the damp, the dark and the gloom.
Bears don't get SAD because they sleep through the winter....alas my life does not allow me that luxury.:)

One good thing about autumn, flies buzz off, and you can open your windows, without fear one might be dancing on a defrosting pork chop, after earlier dancing on a freshly laid dog's egg, before entering your home.
