With this ring...I'm free to pop one out.

Acrington sham marriage bride wins cut in sentence

'A BOGUS Czech bride who was jailed for her part in an Accrington sham marriage has had her sentence overturned - so she can give birth at home.'

Tough on crime?

I think not.

Are we to see more and more people spared jail sentences, as costs seem to play more of an important part, rather than justice, for people found guilty of committing crime?.

Not on the same subject, though it does concern our criminal justice system, I'll post this here.

Watching the television news last night, there was a report about the woman who stabbed M.P. Stephen Timms, because he'd voted in favour of invading Iraq, in 2003.

What I found outrageous was that she wasn't in court because she 'didn't recognise the British justice system.'

Fair enough, she has the right not to defend her actions, but as the case was committed in Britain, and she is a British citizen, I'd have dragged her kicking and screaming, and if necessary, handcuffed to the dock.

Woman 'stabbed MP Stephen Timms in stomach after Iraq war confrontation' | Mail Online

Strangely, at the time of the atack, her father was in receipt of welfare benefits, after being made unemployed. He obviously recognises the state, and all that it can offer, including the education of his children, including his daughter.

If people living here, neither like our democratic system, and our sovreign state, they know where the door is.

I'm sure there are lots of caves in the Middle East where people such as Roshonara Choudhrywould feel much happier.

Does this mean home in her country of birth or here?

Exactly how myself and Mrs Moss felt watching the news last night. Not recognising the laws of Great Britain....once again, the ludicrously PC stance of this country is being used to full extent against it.

We need to nip this in the bud now.

When in Rome....

She will be back once the child is born so she can claim the benefits she is "entitled to" !

She's British, and was born here. Not that that makes any difference.

If I lived somewhere, and I didn't deem it a worthy enough place to live, I'd leave.

She has the same options.

Bend over, and smile coquettishly, whilst you're being shafted, Britain.

If you're suspected of committing a crime, and there's enough evidence that you should face trial, whether you recogise the criminal justyice system or not, the accused should be in court, by whatever means it takes to drag them there.

Why does it make an issue of her being a bogus czech if she is british?

Sorry.

Crossed wires, and my fault for broadening the thread.

I was referring to Roshonara Choudhry.

It does make a difference in that if she is found guilty and jailed it costs the tax payer money to put her in jail if she is not british and convicted send her back where she came from which must be a cheaper option than jail!

In her case, I quite agree.

Though I sadly suspect that because of a 'borders free E.E.C.' that is unlikely to happen.

She has the same options.

But not the same benefits she has become accustom to, as in the case of Abu Hamza (Captain Hook) who hates us and our way of life but not the money which keeps him and his brood, while he his in jail:(

I think thats a little different all she did was perform a dodgy marrige not blow up a plane full of people. Having said that you could say that international terrorists and the like would have many countries who would want to see them brought to task in a more permenant way as with abu hamza egypt want him let them have i say.

Would there be much point? As an EU citizen, she's free to come and go as she pleases.

Nice we're both still singing from the same anti-European hymn book.

Even if we're doing it at different times.

Agreed, but it's not been called the EEC since the early 90's. And I'm not being pedantic here - the change from European Economic Community to European Union says everything anyone needs to know about the nature and ambitions of this bloated, corrupt, self-serving, profoundly undemocratic institution.

It takes me all my time not to say Common Market.

Which was it's name the last time we were allowed a referendum on the issue, about a body, which at that time, was purely an economic alliance, not the monster we've been lumbered with now. The United States of Europe.
