Good news for a change

Some good news for a change, Paul and Rachel Chandler have been released by Somali pirates who have been holding them for over 12 months

I'm glad for them. It must have been a profound life changing experience.
I wonder who paid the ransom.

It is good news.

It's not like they were even taking risks, sailing where they did.

They were a thousand miles away from the Somali coast.

I love east Africa, but it's not somewhere I'd travel to now.

it is brilliant news but unfortunately Paul Chandler has just been told that his father died whilst he was being held :(

I heard that on the news late last night.

Very sad, and doesn't paint the Rainbow Nation in a particularly good light.

Great news! I wonder thou, when those pirates will be taken care of? I mean somalia is one of the most dangerous places to travel to, including the seas around it.
I mean, they can attack iraq and afghanistan, but can't take care of somalian issues? C'mon!

Mysterious ransom providers identified?

Paul and Rachel Chandler: Was Britain's £5.8m aid grant to Somalia a ransom? | Mail Online

Shocking, perhaps but sadly no surprise.

OK can someone please explain ...... Somalia is a failed State , no functioning Govt. total anarchy ....... so who gets/signs for the foriegn aid cheque ? and where does he/she cash it ? and more importantly who the heck authourised it.
Seems to me the best solution to the pirate problem is to just "Glass them over"
