Do we have to start thinking about it yet? I know the Christmas decorations will be up in Oxford Street in about a week, but it takes all the fun out of it if you plan too early. We used to go round to Emily's in Henry Street on Christmas Eve morning and get the tree, the nuts, those lovely tangerines in a wooden case half wrapped in silver paper .. then dress the tree in the afternoon, and then the pantomime at the Hippodrome - it was magic! The bottles would start to appear, closely followed by aunts and uncles, and we were allowed a glass of advocaat on Christmas Eve. I still love it, wouldn't touch it any other time of year, but Christmas isn't Christmas without it.

As to your query, Willow, these days its hard to tell - but I would still go for a train set!

Oooh, I remember going to Emily's as a little girl. She used to have a big barrell by the counter full of dog biscuits. When my mum was at the counter, I used to help myself to the biscuits. We didn't have a dog, but I did love those biccies.. I'm sure they thought I was a very strange child..:)

I think they've got past the train set stage Pendy. They seem to mature very quickly these days.

Ooh Lettie I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who ate dog biscuits!

I remember the dog biscuits - never found any as good since!

Willow - if they're that sophisticated, how about a 12 year old girl??

Is that an average, Bazf? - I would have thought you could have got more for the tender bits, like the rump.

The old Eton Boating (Royal Navy Version) song priced them at "little boys are half a crown...standing up or sitting down"
