Do you think the BBC were right to air the program on corruption in Fifa just days before the world cup bid, or waited till after. The program sure as hell won't help our bid:(

Half of me says the corrupt system should be exposed, the other half says why should we do it when none of the other countries in FIFA give a toss

Re: Panorama

Of course there must be freedom of press, with a duty to uncover fraud and corruption and expose dishonesty and deceipt.

There is also the common sense question of timing.

Reminds me of the old saying "May I be 10 minutes in Heaven before the Devil knows I'm dead"

Re: Panorama

I think it would have been better to have delayed the showing until next week - once the awards had been made. There was already criticism of stories in the English Press, this just adds more fuel.
I watched the program, but did not see any real evidence against the FIFA members named - only innuendo and a document that could have come from anywhere. I forget how long he has been investigating, this but it is years.
His information all seemed to come from the chap who had been employed by ISL - was it sour grapes? Also, as that chap is a Swiss MP why has he not agitated for the Swiss Authorities to take action, after all it is all taking place there.

I don't believe we should change/introduce laws just to make fifa happy. I don't agree with the conditions they set and the way the Government agreed to them without making them public either.

On the basis of what I saw on the programme and I did not see it all, I hope we don't get the world cup.
Fifa appear to be corrupt and as a Country and Government we should have nothing to do with them.
I would go as far as to say we should not send any UK teams to the world cup and nor should any other country who believes corruption and bribery should not be present in fifa.

I agree. There's no point in sending any UK teams to the world cup - not on the point of moral principle but on the basis we will win nowt and we know we will win nowt.

The England team that will one day win the European Championship or the World Cup is not yet born.

The same criteria probably applies to EUFA, the Olympic Committee and many other organisations, including governments.:(:(

dont think it woulda made any difference, if the programme had been delayed a few weeks, its naive to think FIFA were not aware of this investigation coming out, unless ya believe in fairies.

Re: Panorama

The program would have just had the same impact next Monday, so why last night, it would still have been in the public interest next week so why the rush, I'm one of those people that think we should host the world cup in 2018, this program has hindered that bid and for what:(

Re: Panorama

i also would like us to host the 2018 world cup, i also do not think when this was aired will make a blind bit of difference.

It could have a few running scared of further delving into the murky waters.
I see that the IOC are starting an investigation into one who is both on FIFA and IOC. Maybe they will decide better to give it to England and then the English Press will leave us alone - little chance of that I think.
