Congratulations !
Well done Ken Hargreaves , Winifred Bridges , Irene Barnes , and Leonard Dickinson for being chosen to receive the Freedom of the Borough .
You have served our community well . Much of what you have done has been behind the scenes . Not wishing to blow your own trumpets , you got cracking and did what you do best - helping us . And you are still doing it . Enjoy the honour when it is awarded . May you inspire others , especially our youth , by your example . Thanks . |
Re: Congratulations !
gotta agree, well deserved.;)

Re: Congratulations !
Well done to all four. I only know Len personally, and am very pleased for him. He served Church and Hyndburn admirably, and defended the Health Department vigorously. It's a pity there aren't more like him on the Council today.

Re: Congratulations !
Ken Hargreaves did a lot of good work, most of which was behind the scenes and unreported and also my personal thanks go to him for assisting us in our hour of need.
As a tongue in cheek aside, is Freedom Of The Borough the origin of being FOBBED OFF? |
Re: Congratulations !
I know Ken Hargreaves & Winnie Bridges and feel they both thoroughly deserve the honour.

Re: Congratulations !
Obviously I know Ken very well, and its a well deserved accolade. Even though he is in his seventies he is still totally involved with many local organisations and to be fair he isn't tip top health wise, but that's Ken. Although I only know Len slightly I know he is another person who has worked for the community over many years. Unfortunately I don't know the other two recipients, but they must have been beacons of the community over many years too, congratulations to all four

Re: Congratulations !
I only know Ken out of the four of them so can't comment about the other three. But, Ken Hargreaves definitely deserves it.

Re: Congratulations !
There were two nominations that had not confirmed whether to be considered for the award ... wonder if they ever did.

Re: Congratulations !
Yey! Winnie Bridges is my Grandma! I'm obviously slightly biased but she really is the most amazing and genuinely nice person you could ever wish to meet! She has inspired so many people to go to university (including me!) and is just an astonishing person :) She loves Hyndburn and I think she still doesn't quite believe that she has received this honour! :) Basically, I love my Grandma! :)
